I’m old enough to remember when they said this about MOOCs and then it turns out without a teacher and classmates to talk to, hardly anyone finishes their MOOC classes. Bc learning is social.

We should absolutely kill the lecture and test model in most cases though. Small, active classes forever!
Wow. Just wow.

"Students pay premium prices for information that AI now delivers instantly and for free. A business student can ask ChatGPT to explain supply chain optimization or generate market analysis in seconds. The traditional lecture-and-test model faces its Blockbuster moment."

SCOOP — Part of the reason Disney/ABC may have rushed to sort things out with Kimmel is because tomorrow they have a planned price increase for Disney+ streaming, a Disney source tells me. With subscriptions hemorrhaging since last week, they couldn’t risk losing more users with this announcement.

The H1-B visa thing is, like everything else in the Trump administration, set up to carve up exceptions for friends and punish enemies. It’s the authoritarian thru-line that stitches everything together.

This is absolutely outrageous. I can tell you that *many* Canadians were outraged that I was denied entry to the US… on exactly the same specious grounds.

Canada is choosing genocide denialism as immigration policy. This country has no moral authority whatsoever.

This + increasingly, I think it's important to note who doesn't want these spaces (public schools, universities, parades, etc) to exist and who benefits from them feeling unsafe.
I think it's terrible that Gen Z and Gen Alpha continue to live in a world where K-12 and college campus shootings are a normal part of life and that's all they've ever known and I think we should arrange things so that any kind of school or university shooting is impossible

The labor market is deteriorating!

For the first time in four years, the economy lost jobs.

Our economy is in the toilet right now and everything in the grocery store is higher priced than it was during the pandemic.

This is what losing looks like! Trump’s economy sucks!

The balkanized "future" of the internet has long been here--for decades the internet in Spain has looked very different from the internet in Canada.

But I think this is one of the first times we're seeing a platform geo-blocking by *US State* and this way lies madness.
