The escalation from down south the past week has me seriously considering selling my worlds tickets...

honestly even at a loss might be a good price for my own safety and security

If you wanted no leaks you should have gone into Settings -> Security -> Configure privacy & security -> Privacy options -> Other -> Configure -> Media interface and clicked “Disallow.”

The Leak setting is on by default but we understand your privacy is important so we’ve made it easy to opt out

Everybody who is being an asshole about the fact that Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov were born in and competed for Russia needs to be quiet. They moved to the United States in *1998*. They coach U.S. Skaters. Their son, Maxim was born in the U.S. and competes internationally for the U.S. ⛸️

Spencer Lane, 16, and his mother Christine Conrad Lane, 49, were among those on board American Airlines 5342.

They were returning from Wichita, where Spencer had been training at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships. It was the next step in the sport he hoped would be his future. wapo.st/40SsDoA

Skating fam: A request

A major media outlet reached out to me to help with identifying friends of the victims; they want to help tell the victims’ stories and celebrate their lives

If you were particularly close to any of them and you would like to speak to this outlet, can you DM me please?

U.S. Figure Skating confirmed several of its members were on Flight 5342. The National Development Camp and the U.S. Figure Skating Championships were held in Wichita just days ago.

Figure skaters are posting about the crash. It seems likely that a lot of the East Coast kids at the USFS National Development Camp may have been on the flight. This is horrible. ⛸️💔

I keep thinking about how many of the victims are going to be young kids: juvenile, intermediate, and novice skaters. These are kids whose bright futures have been extinguished by greed, spite, and small-mindedness. The whole thing is heartbreaking. ⛸️ 💔

One thing about Dems being lame and normie is that they may actually be open to constituent pressure so one thing you can do, as useless as it seems, is call their offices.

ICYMI. They don’t care about our anger or fear or grief. They feed on it. But they hate noncompliance. And they think we’re all ignorant.

So let’s be ignorant! I don’t understand and neither do you. Make a scene, hold up the line, ask a hundred questions.

Put sand in every gear of this regime
In addition to helping vulnerable people and orgs, something else you can instead of screaming is to put a wrench in this administration’s plans every chance you get. A few ideas:

personally i plan on being a huge bitch about it until i die. we'll be eating expired kidney beans in the climate-ravaged ruins of a wegmans and i'll be like "well i hope those AI pictures of cats made out of bread were fucking worth it brittney"
People are like "the genie is out of the bottle with AI so we'll all have to live with it." No it isn't. No we won't. That isn't true

Had dinner with a friend in academia this weekend, he told me all of his international peers are fleeing as fast as the flights can carry them. This is an absolute catastrophe for American higher ed, not that anyone will notice until it affects football recruiting.

Guys, that list going around of all the stuff that was stopped by the new EOs was generated on ChatGPT. Supposedly checked but OP also admits it's based on assumptions.
If you're competent at verifying the grant programs in the list are correct and that none of the relevant ones have been left out

Just fucking write the list.

If you're not competent at verifying this, the list is worse than useless

Last week I noticed that a respected LGBTQ+ org had some AI-generated text & images on their site. I privately reached out to let them know how dismayed I was, and within a day they responded that it was a surprise to them too, and they were taking it down. So: Yay! Call that stuff out! It works!

for a second I thought this was referring to the oqlf and wondered when they had started policing people themselves and not just places of business 😭
i think people who complain about the language police are, by and large, just cowards. say whatever you want! no one is going to stop you. but people may judge you or even, if you say the wrong thing in front of the wrong person, pop you in the mouth. but that’s life!

GenAI has polluted image search results, especially for animal pics. It’s now basically impossible to find accurate art references.

Enter this: a repository of open-access, AI-free images of wild & exotic taxa. Artists creating *without AI* have blanket permission for derivative/transformative use.
