Most people know viscerally that what Israel is doing in Gaza is wrong. Religion, antisemitism or whatever has nothing to do with it. Emphasising Australian Jews’ connections to that state is not going to make their community safer.
My god how quickly we have capitulated. This is a man who was happily photographed signing bombs to be launched on Gaza. Pandering to this man does not help Australia’s Jewish community one bit.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog to visit Australia after Bondi Beach attack
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said the governor-general will issue an invitation to Herzog to visit Australia "as soon as possible".

Fine words about Israel valuing life. I’d rather follow the evidence.
"You have to stand with Israel" ... because Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinians who are non-white people mostly of Muslim faith who are exactly the kind of people Australia also loves killing.

You may as well just say it out loud, Mr Furious Israeli. #auspol

Sussan Ley is making huge effort to lay political blame for #Bondi tragedy on @albomp.bsky.social. Fact is assassins were given entry to Australia by a government in which she was a Minister.

What a great lady. The people being mourned were overwhelmingly Australians. This is a tragedy for Australia. Why is the flag of a different country being flown?
While Israeli flags are seen at a Bondi memorial site, the police removed a Jewish woman wearing a keffiyeh.

Spectacularly so. Gratifying to see Sofronoff appeal against findings of corruption lost. But Planet Janet still prospers

Vance has done a bit of hectoring himself. Remember the Munich Security Conference speech?
Seeing a leader of the United States adopt this line is revolting. While the US remains imperfect, it is also the global leader in FDI as well as the world’s leading destination for inbound investment. China would love to have an economy like America’s.

Politicians running up expenses need to remember not just the rules but also that the media love whipping up outrage about perceived self-indulgence. Would there be the same fuss/envy if Wells had taken her family to boring events and places?
Endless media reports on the travel expenses of federal MPs & senators date back decades & will likely continue into the future. Generally, politicians are allowed to repay travel expenses. In the Howard era this was called the Minchin Protocol. #auspol www.theguardian.com/world/2013/j...

Another example of an institution, in this case our government, being panicked by the Israeli lobby into a bad move. At great expense to taxpayers.
Does she not possess a diary?

Surely for the eye-watering sums ($1m/year, $1000/day to her personally) spent on her office we can crowdfund a $15 desk calendar for her?

If she refuses to be transparent in such an influential position on the levers of power she has no place in that role.

Look around the world. It’s not an either/or question.
🚨NEW: A new poll Americans’ support for Medicare For All has intensified to the point where the old attacks may no longer work.

As both parties legislate criticism of socialism, there has been a 50-point shift on a key question in just 6 years.

This is YUGE.

I’ve long thought that we might be better off sacking the politicians and putting the CWA in charge.
I’m open to the idea of scrapping the HoR and making it the House of Nannas where they decide what’s best for the country and the senate is just more nannas sitting around having high tea with scones and home baked pies deciding which good ideas should become law. Change my mind

He didn’t have anything to say to them about changing needs to fight modern wars because he doesn’t understand modern warfare. His priority is that soldiers look pretty on parade.
I still can’t believe he did that. What a colossal waste of money to call all the military leadership to the US to listen to you rant about beards in person. I think Hegseth literally does not know what his position should do so he’s just grasping for anything
