I make signs and stickers and things. I never really got the hang of social media so I'm trying here but there probably won't be much going on in this feed. 🙃

it is not remarked upon enough that these guys just genuinely and sincerely hate america and hate americans
it's utterly wild how the Heritage Foundation president talks about other people

if you found a guy talking like this outside, you'd probably call the cops

every once in a while I feel like I get a glimpse of what social networking would be if the platform incentives were just to give us a glimpse of normal people enjoying themselves...

Tonight we found a tiny adorable dog walking in the street. I said, "That might be Gizmo. I don't know what he looks like but I know there's a house on this block with a small dog named Gizmo." Walk over, knock on the door, guy answers and before we can say anything, "Oh it's Gizmo!"

I'm already not working today and I need something to do other than doomscroll on here and this sounds like fun so, sure! I look forward to the challenge of coming up with things for the 4 likes I'm going to get. 😁
Alright, this is going to be a terrible idea for my ability to get work done tomorrow but let's do this. For every "like" I'll post a piece of personal lore.
Sure ok, I like this idea. For every “like” I’ll reveal a piece of personal lore about me.

Had an incredibly anxious morning after telling one of my best customers that I changed my name (AGAIN), and am now dealing with the afternoon crash from the relief of them being totally chill and getting right back to business talk.

My bank account is in a very bad state right now, so instead of doing something to change that I spent almost an entire day researching how to open a battery/solar powered food truck to sell coffee and crepes. That was a productive use of my time, right?

I’m getting bombarded with frantic fragments.

Information flow is crucial right now, and every link in the chain matters. This is a concrete place where you can play a massive role in improving transmission.

You heard ‘em - time to use the Senate phone lines as therapy
At a meeting today with staffers for Senators Markey and Warren, the staffers made two concrete asks:

1. Please call or email and share your stories about how the current administration’s actions are hurting or will hurt you personally. The Senators can use these human stories to persuade those /1

When the Patriot Act was passed, libraries got requests for patrons’ borrowing history. We were prohibited from disclosing those requests.

We deleted and shredded those records and stopped tracking reading history for that reason.

I’m in Japan right now so I’m obliged to remind the world — we don’t want AI. We want a robust rail system. We want trains. Metros. High speed. Locals. Cute trains. Efficient trains. Trains.

I finally told my parents (over email) that I'm changing my name (first and last) and I've gone from assuming they will disown me, then thinking it will be fine, then back to the disowning, and now it's been several hours of radio silence so....that's great.

I've been avoiding ultraprocessed foods lately and that's going great. Healthier, tasty, cool. But also I learned how to make whipped cream with my handheld milk frother. And my instant pot milk frother. And in an old jelly jar with a blender ball. Ok so health isn't actually a huge priority here.

For me, the most incredible artefacts from the ancient world are the letters people wrote on clay tablets and sent to one another over thousands of years in Mesopotamia, going back to more than 5,000 years ago.

They contain recognisable humanity, warmth and humour. Here's a thread of my favourites.

@bonescrap.bsky.social So I felt that it was important to tell you that we have a new store downtown called @pigeonpost.cafe and I'm taking you there next time you're in town. And you're probably getting some Christmas gifts from them. Just fyi. 😁

One of the unexpected joys of changing my name has been figuring out a new signature. Whenever I find a few spare minutes I just write my name over and over trying to find a style I like, and tonight I think I finally figured out how to write my new last name. It's so exciting.

This week I learned that I have many second cousins that I hadn't previously known about. They are all 5+ years younger so we were never in the same school at the same time, and since we share the same unusual last name teachers always asked them if they were related to me. (cont'd)
