I wrote about the ascendance of Bari Weiss from a hack columnist to media royalty, and what it means for the future of CBS News.

This probably isn’t the developers’ top priority (although it should be), but I’d love to see the Bluesky app have an option to switch to the Julian calendar for those of us who reject the lies of Pope Gregory XIII

1/ OK, Democratic members of Congress in the US Senate. It’s time for some tough love.

I am aware your pollsters and consultants tell you things like “the American people want us to work together” and “ focus on prescription drug prices in the economy.”

“Ran a better campaign”….the candidate talked about a pro golfer’s genitals and freaked out about dogs and cats during a national debate. No, the Harris campaign was better. The American public just didn’t care
They ran a better campaign than '16. They made some smart choices, zeroed in on things which I did not give proper weight, and were ultimately decisive. But they were hardly Sherman marching to the sea. Remember Wiles and LaCivita leaking against each other, washing hands.

It is 100 percent their fault. They intentionally shut out AOC in favor of an old white guy with cancer. They turned Harris's "fuck those people are so weird" campaign vibe into standard James Carville pablum. It is their fault. And we are all paying the price.
Something that I think we can all agree on is that the current generation of Democratic leadership is simply not optimized for the Attention Age. Not really their fault! And honestly, they may be better people for it, but it's a pretty pressing political problem.

Cutting federal aid and buying out government workers are both directly from the publicly-stated Yarvin / Thiel / Vance plan to destroy democratic government and replace it with a corporate dictatorship.

For everyone wishing and hoping for a return to Obama era politics, please read up on how the corporations-as-partners with government regulators philosophy rammed into practice by Obama's neoliberal administration helped get us to where we are right now

Conservatism is an ideology dedicated to the premise that it would be better to demolish society back to the Stone Age than be told not to use a slur on a zoom call.

Every single friend and co-worker has expressed this exact sentiment to me
I think the Dem base’s anger at elected Dems for their bizarre, paralyzed accommodationism is building much faster than anyone realizes. Pressure rising, explosion may be imminent

AOC: I don’t care what Elon Musk is doing behind the presidential seal, but in this country we hate Nazis. Kind of like a foundational defining thing. Two of the foundational things about American history is that we beat the confederates and we beat the Nazis.

We are thrilled to work with Elena, a student at Saint Francis of Assisi school, on her project to combat period poverty locally! Period poverty is the inability to afford and access menstrual products, sanitation facilities, and education/awareness to manage menstrual health.

"fundamentally misunderstanding the teachings of jesus christ" is the core tenet of white evangelical christianity
If your Christianity causes you to be offended by someone asking the most powerful person in the country to be merciful towards the powerless, then you have profoundly misunderstood the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Sure wish the center-left parties of the world could figure out a better way to defeat the far right at the ballot box than "Let them govern for a while, they'll get so far out over their own skis that people will vote for us simply out of disgust"!

Mark is right and there are Democrats and liberals in the replies arguing “we need a propaganda front talking about how bad Trump is” as if people don’t know

What is the democratic response ? Trump sucks and is bad for the country. The Republican response to that ? We know. We don't care. We want what we want

That's what Dems need to solve

Essential thread for the times and a wake-up call for people accustomed to calling themselves “liberal”
A lot is really discouraging about the rise of fascism in the US. I feel particularly distressed at how difficult and unlikely a popular front between liberals and the left is, largely as a result of the horrible turn of liberalism this last year. 1/19 🧵

It is so vital that we as experienced organizers/community workers/theorists continue to push and center education in our movement. We have to be actively learning and unlearning and it IS an active process. You cannot passively learn. You must apply it as praxis and thought beyond comprehension.
