Getting the impression that ICE is gearing up for a pogrom in Springfield, Ohio, which was ground zero of Vance’s lies about Haitians during the campaign. Haitians lose temporary protected status on February 3rd. Reporters, lawyers, neighbors — please get ready.

This isn't just an issue for Somerset. Huge swathes of England, including the Fens, Broads and Humberhead Levels, are already at or below sea level

We're going to lose much of our best agricultural land, and millions of people will become climate refugees

What's the plan?

Apple & Google removed ICE tracking apps in their app stores.

TikTok reportedly suppressed videos criticizing ICE & the shooting of Alex Pretti.

Meta blocked Facebook groups tracking ICE & links to a database of agents that the government wants to keep secret.

What a win for nature!

Scotland is the first UK country to have Swift bricks in law – a lifeline for this threatened bird. And, for the first time ever, the Scottish Government must set legally binding nature recovery targets.

Thanks for helping make history with a strong Natural Environment Bill.

We saw it with big tobacco, we saw it with the fossil fuels industry. When their own internal research showed the harm from their product, the defunded the research and attacked independent researchers coming to the very same conclusions.

Last year, it was CrowdStrike. This week, AWS. We are engineering critical social systems that are completely contingent on single points of failure. It’s designed fragility and it produces catastrophic risk—all because it’s marginally more efficient. We are foolishly careening toward disaster:
The CrowdStrike Debacle is a Warning
We have engineered social systems that are hyper-optimized, super efficient, but incredibly fragile. It's a mistake—and unless we fix it, we will careen toward much worse, utterly avoidable disasters.

Good that Europe is finally moving to end Russian fossil gas imports. Less money fuelling Putin’s war machine is a win.

But swapping Russian gas for US gas is no solution. It would only lock in decades of pollution and dependence.
