Hi, I'm Luke (he/him). I love video games, especially Nintendo, especially The Legend of Zelda. I'm making my way through Doctor Who for the second time. I keep up with college football but don't watch anymore. I'm an exvangelical, Arkansas-to-California transplant, and love my spouse and kids.
Kirby day :)

Cool! I've been wondering what the next Zelda set would be. Of course, as someone who thinks a lot about what and when new Zelda game releases will be, I'm also wondering whether this means it's more likely there will be an Ocarina of Time remake next year.
A new ' The Legend of Zelda' Lego set is coming in 2026.

Early MINOR SPOILERS impressions of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment (my older kid played the shit out of it over the weekend, I watched some and played some 2-player levels with her):
- I'm happy to have another new Zelda game!

Tonight is pizza night and I'll be proposing a Pepsi Zero Sugar toast to the Bokoblin from Breath of the Wild. For my money, it's the greatest monster design in all of Zelda, and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment -- which came out yesterday -- may be its last hurrah.

This is so cool. I'm so happy for Team Cherry that they just took their time, had fun, made the game they wanted to make, and mostly stayed offline. I'm excited for Silksong to finally be a thing that exists in the world.
BREAKING: Silksong will be out on September 4. Two weeks from today. Really.

Often, games that take 7+ years to make are plagued by mismanagement and painful burnout. But for Silksong? Team Cherry was having a blast. They still are.

This is their story: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...

Splatoon similarly has the juice. I'm mid at Salmon Run and below mid at the competitive modes, but every now and then we pick the game back up and I have a blast with it. If I'm/we're doing REALLY poorly, I may not have fun, but even then, the vibes are incredible.
The thing about Mario Kart is that I would not call it one of my favorite game series, but basically every time I play, I have a great time -- even if I don't place well -- and am always happy to play more, cuz it feels so good to play. So, hell, maybe it IS one of my favorite game series.

So if I'm reading this (very good) interview about DK Bananza correctly, the idea for this game grew out of a technology that was used in limited ways in Mario Odyssey, where you could dig through snow or cheese in a couple of areas. www.ign.com/articles/our...

Long but very interesting
basically yeah. my theory is that "knowing things" basically peaked in perceived coolness somewhere around 1970 and has been steadily declining ever since. being a nerd is definitionally about your relationship to trivia but trivia isn't actually the same as expertise
I think a lot of the terror of the modern age can be understood by the fact that the Internet accelerated the development of the worst type of person, the "Anti-Intellectual Nerd."

My review of Switch 2 so far is that it feels good and sounds good. I haven't played in handheld yet, but the plastic in the Joy-cons and Pro controller feels substantially nicer than the Switch 1 versions. The menu sounds have been completely redesigned from Switch 1, and I like them a lot.

Forest of Spirits on the Great Plateau. It's not that different from a lot of the other forests in BotW, but when it's your first hour in that game and you're running around there at night, and there's no music, just crickets, and you run into the old man at a cooking pot...that's the good shit
what’s your favorite forest area from the legend of zelda? 💭

Nintendo Direct is at 6 am our time on Wednesday, which means we're getting up early and should be able to watch the whole thing before school/work. I think I'm more excited for this than I will be for the console's release day, because we know so little about it and will learn so much at once.
