He/him. I’ve got my own road to walk down.
DubiousBench in the Polygon comments section (RIP Polygon).
Coming to this 7 months late but Rusty's Real Deal Baseball is a banger and absolutely unhinged in letting you negotiate actual real-dollar prices for buying the minigames.

Tri Force Heroes, also a great time if you have two other people to play with in person, otherwise don't bother.

I'm always struck by how they managed to include the exact right amount of exposition, at basically every turn. The FOTR film's prologue is up there as one of the greatest achievements of the entire trilogy for its economy of detail.

Was at the Snoopy ice skating show at Knott’s Berry Farm today and Charlie Brown confirmed he is more than 40 years old. (Seems like it should be a lot more, but it was in the context of establishing how long the show had been going. Still, it was specifically a line about his personal age.)

My kids have played a ton of Minecraft & Smash & don't like Steve being there. Last night we were discussing the hypothetical "Smash never existed & Nintendo's making it for the first time now, what's the roster" and they were not having my suggestion of Steve as one of the first 3rd-party fighters.

Ninja turtles splintered fate (4-player), I did not grow up with the toitles but goddamn they are delightful

Really enjoyed this review! Looking forward to playing more of this one. I'll note that this game isn't as good for co-op as the previous two HW games are, because a lot of the story levels are 1-player only, for no discernible reason, and at least one switches from 2-player to 1-player mid-level.

Other possibilities include a remake of Oracle of Ages/Seasons (this would be hugely exciting for me and my wife, who adore these games and are about to play them again), a remake of A Link Between Worlds, or something weird, like a modern reimagining of Zelda II.

I do think they will want a big new video game release for Zelda between now and the movie's release (May 7, 2027). An Ocarina of Time remake would fit the bill, and would make even more sense if the movie is adapting Ocarina of Time (we have no idea if that's the case).

It's entirely possible Nintendo will not do anything for Zelda's 40th. I could also see them doing just a few small things for it in February: announcing some Age of Imprisonment DLC, maybe releasing the Mineru construct amiibo they already announced, putting Twilight Princess on Switch Online.

Next year is Zelda's 40th anniversary. We've had a new Zelda game each of the past three years, so another new one seems highly unlikely. Wind Waker HD & Twilight Princess HD also seem highly unlikely, because the OG WW just came to Switch 2 and presumably the OG TP will also be there at some point.

As someone who has never seen a Bond film, I don't understand the screenwriter saying he doesn't know how he would follow up on a film where Bond dies. If Craig were coming back, maybe it would be tricky. But with a new actor coming in, why is this a problem at all?

- I like the dizzying amount of icons the between-missions world map has.
- It's a good game! After my time with it this weekend, I definitely want to play more of it and also more TotK.
November 10, 2025 at 6:58 PM
- The game looks great and runs really smoothly. Apparently split-screen co-op only gets 30 fps and it's uneven, instead of the consistent 60 fps of 1-player...but as someone who is not yet initiated into the understanding of frame rates, it all looks good to me!

- The 2-player mode in this game is actually a bummer after the first two HW games, which are pretty much entirely playable in 2-player. A lot of the story missions in this game can only be played in 1-player, and at least one mission kicks out the second player halfway through!
November 10, 2025 at 6:58 PM
- So much of TotK is about people coming together; the game's defining motif is the joining of hands (which also appears prominently in the soundtrack, in the form of a clap). Age of Imprisonment understands that, building one of its coolest new gameplay mechanics around essentially a high-five.
a person is holding a purple object in their hand in a dark room .
Alt: In Age of Imprisonment, Rauru and Mineru clasp hands and then unite in a badass attack where they materialize a bunch of spears, made of light, sticking in the ground, and then Rauru strides forward and grabs them and prepares to unleash awesomeness.

- It is a bit of a wasted opportunity that this game does so little with Ganondorf.
- On the other hand, I really like the game going with the playable cast being mostly the four Sages we knew nothing about, and new characters. A very different approach from Age of Calamity (which I also liked).
November 10, 2025 at 6:58 PM
- Pretty sure this game is doing the time-honored Zelda tradition of "supposed new character who turns out to be a familiar character," and that's fun.
- I want a sitcom of Ganondorf living in Hyrule Castle with Rauru, Zelda, and the rest. Rauru has strong Sitcom Dad energy.
November 10, 2025 at 6:58 PM
- The way this game deals with the problem of "you can't NOT include Link in a Hyrule Warriors game but you also definitely can't include Link in THIS Hyrule Warriors game" is ingenious and hilarious -- and has provided at least one poignant story beat that I've seen so far.
November 10, 2025 at 6:58 PM
- The musou genre is much derided for its repetitive button-mashing. But you know what, it's pretty damn fun! This game might be the best yet (of the HW series, the only musou games I've played), with a lot of new visual and audio flourishes that make it feel more like a popcorn blockbuster.
November 10, 2025 at 6:58 PM
- What I love most about Hyrule Warriors games is how their stories complement and sometimes push back against the main Legend of Zelda series. In this game, Zelda (the character)'s story is at the forefront, which directly addresses the biggest weakness of Tears of the Kingdom's story.

Hosted birthday party for my 16yo…they played modded Smash Ultimate, Jackbox (I joined for Quiplash), and Pico Park 2 with friends.
