I find it so weird how many women, even in very progressive environments, reject the feminist label. I think being a feminist means believing that all genders deserve the same rights and choices. A woman can be a stay at home mom, or a CEO — feminists believe women have the right to chose which one.

“a better future isn’t possible” is explicitly a right wing view and everyone needs to do a better job rejecting it for themselves and drumming it out of younger people
IME every time I bring this up with young/young-ish people I get some variation on “lol I won’t live that long climate change will take me out before I’m 50” & it’s yet another example of how blackpilling throws sand in the gears of even trying to get anything done now.

One of the most manifestly unqualified appointments probably ever. And I’m not convinced there will be enough votes in the senate to take him down

…. This is such a depressing statement. I can’t believe it’s about America
personally if I were an aspiring fascist regime I would simply not actively antagonize the entire military before I actually took power

And it's really been under-radar that the far-right got some key allies in literally some of the most important local offices that will oversee elections going forward; we'll hear a lot about Maricopa in 2026 & 2028 that'll fulfill the prediction of the first part of your post.

Justin Heap, a lawmaker aligned with election deniers, and like-minded Republicans won key Maricopa County offices. Voting advocates hope that guardrails will protect local elections.

We cannot accept a status quo in our elections where if one side wins they have to scratch and claw to withstand lies, illegal challenges, and violent mobs. And if the other side is successful, they're invited to measure the drapes and gather around the fireplace.

… this is the first nominee to make me go WTAF. He does not seem qualified enough for one of the most important Cabinet positions. Senate republicans, if they have any shred of integrity left, should vote him down

anyway, i'm going to stop talking about it for today but a major source of power for authoritarian regimes is their ability to project that they're a steamroller who can't be stopped and have thought of anything, and that's just simply not going to be true of these guys

My impression is this isn’t as bad as it could be, anyone have more in depth thoughts?
BREAKING

If confirmed, Rubio’s seat will be filled by a temporary appointment by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and then a special election.

This is terrifying. And the worst part is that it’s not impossible.
Okay, I've written the other half of this on how I think things could go wrong under Trump.

It’s DOA in the house and the senate. Abolishing the 22nd amendment isn’t going to get a 2/3 majority in a single chamber. Even if it somehow makes it to the states, it will never get the 2/3 majority. Still, we should target any senator who even hints at supporting that

I have to say, climate change is what I am the most concerned with under a Trump presidency. Everything else is going to be really, really bad, but hopefully it will be fixable. With climate change? We can’t wait another 4 years. We can’t afford for it to get so bad that he has no choice but to act
