This is exactly what Canada said would happen: the auto industry would grind to a halt within 3 weeks of these tariffs being implemented.
First big shoe to drop. Am expecting Ford & GM to react similarly within days. Do not be surprised to hear many suppliers in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois go belly up especially Third Tier. Magna, Nexteer, Brose, FlexNGate, etc will all be in danger. Also, expect trucking companies to close.

I have covered presidential politics for 40 years. This was the most juvenile display by a President and Vice President I have ever seen. Other presidents treated their enemies with more respect. This is a low point and a dark day for the US. Totally embarrassing.

A federal judge has just ordered Musk to get out of Treasury’s computers. We are fortunate there are good lawyers representing democracy. Normally that would end the matter, but in this era there are legit questions about compliance & enforcement. We live on the edge of a constitutional crisis.

in addition to musk stealing the data for his own purposes, I imagine that they think they can simply shut off payments to whoever doesn’t comply. I would not be shocked if they tried to turn off Social Security for an entire state of course that’s dissolution of the union territory.
NEW: Sources tell my office that Treasury Secretary Bessent has granted DOGE *full* access to this system. Social Security and Medicare benefits, grants, payments to government contractors, including those that compete directly with Musk's own companies. All of it.
