Good morning friends! Sending you all a big hug on this Friday morning. Today I will be trying to remember that even small acts of kindness and love matter—and to do a few.

My toofless angel. (Francie needed to have full dental extraction done a few years ago due to a condition called stomatitis. Toothless cats do great and they can eat dry food and treats just fine!)

“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.”

A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

Banned/challenged books are often difficult reads with jarring content, but we can't shield ourselves nor our children from the realities of the world forever - it's better to build empathy and understanding through books, especially by reading books by/about marginalized people.

The Flaming Star Nebula. I'm still playing with the different views and color combinations, so I'll likely have a different take on this data in a few weeks, but for now, here's a few I'm happy with.

This is why I stopped watching instructional cooking shows. Now I just watch the competitive ones so I can judge other people's cooking lol

Unreasonably excited to have a Staff Recs shelf at the wonderful Poisoned Pen Bookstore. It's a tiny but mighty shop & I didn't want to order anything new for my shelf just yet so this is from the terrific current available stock. I love selling stacks of great books to excited readers! 💙📚

Reminder for 2025: You're not a bad actor if you turn down an audition because you don't like the rate, terms of the contract, the content you will be performing, or because your energy is sapped from other work you have to do to survive

you are a bad actor when you are bad at acting

My goal this year is to read at least a chapter a day from one of the many unread books in my makeshift library. Books were always a safe haven for me in grade school, but after college, I mostly abandoned them due to burnout. Hoping to rediscover my love this year. #booksky #anyrecommendations ?
