When Americans talk about healthcare, they pretty much only actually think in terms of the health insurance industry. The actual healthcare is harder to think about than the whole financialized process of paying for it, applying for it, etc.

Taking a sidestep from the gaming stuff for a minute, because I want to share a recent experience that has me thankful.

I'm a single dad to two teenagers, both in high school (freshman and senior).

Everyone should reject it completely... they're endangering women, they're endangering girls of all kind, and everyone should reject it. It's gross." - AOC

One thing I'm finding interesting in my development as a gamer (and game designer) is how my tastes and desires have changed as I've gotten older... so let's dig into that.

I've been working on Earthdawn in some capacity for about 20 years now. I've been a fan pretty much since it came out.

"Bluesky is awesome now, for how long?" I mean, look, all things change and end, we will all die, earth will be uninhabitable in a billion years, then the sun will expand and destroy the planet, and the universe will die a slow death of proton decay. But BEFORE THAT, let's make this place fun, okay?

Just as an example! Our episode coming this Wednesday is the start of a dive into the ork nation of Cara Fahd, opening with the Metal Fists.

They're the largest tribe in CF, and have a strong rivalry with the Broken Fang (the second largest).

But...
Plus, those old books are chock-full of story hooks and campaign ideas, some of which make present-day me say, "Ooohh... I should write that down so I don't forget it, and maybe work it into an upcoming project..."

My podcast (the Earthdawn Survival Guide) is nearing 250 episodes. One of the things I've enjoyed most is going back and revisiting older setting material.

The world-building is really good, and provides nuance and variety to what could have been another mere D&D-alike.

With the influx of Xugees I guess (re)introductions are in order?

I love gaming in all its forms. I'm a writer/developer/public face for the Earthdawn role playing game. I co-host a podcast dedicated to it.

I'm especially interested in how stories and narrative shape (and are shaped by) gaming.
