Today the back pain is as bad as ever in spite of getting some prescription medications on Monday, so a little research was called for. It turns out the doctor prescribed a third of the normal dose for this sort of thing and these pills are much less than what I’ve needed in the past 🙄

This is 100% true. He makes your work and your effort feel seen and valued.
If I can chipp in - James is a extremely humble and engaging project leader. I love The Rimbë Project on its own, but James leadership is what is giving it that extra spice.
He makes you really feel seen and like your work really matter for the rest of the team. Eglerio for him indeed!

He’s also an OG programmer, gamer, Python fellow, member of the Unicode Consortium, linguist, teacher extraordinaire, and a million other really cool things I’ll continue to list as I think of them
Hey guys, as a happy birthday to @jtauber.com and a gift you yourself, go follow James! Do you love Tolkien? Corpus Linguistics? Music? Ancient Greek? The Perseus Digital Library? Australians? Extreme introverts? James is the best and tomorrow is his birthday!

Yes very reluctant to credit the French with a “fourth wave of coffee” when they completely skipped the third wave
Drip/pour over coffee is a very good and I want an apology from all the euros who have trashed it over the years. Especially the ones who tried to claim that an Americano is somehow an acceptable substitute
"In a nation renowned for sophisticated tastes, the acerbic, harsh espresso served in many bistros was not just surprising, but seemingly inexplicable."

This is why I always used to chuckle when Parisians offhandedly dissed Starbucks. The problem is that the French think their coffee is good.

I have coffee today with a 21-year-old friend and we both discussed the joys of CDs and DVDs and owning physical media. Streaming Era, Gen Z is coming for you.

Eg. Upload your CV and a job description and ask it to give you a mock interview in voice mode. Forces you to speak out loud (v different) and gives you feedback on answers. Brilliant for those nervous for interviews and embarrassed to practice with a human.

I think one reason ttrpgs are so compelling is because they allow us to explore the possibility of life-narratives beyond the one that we currently tell for ourselves (which is usually precious and feels dangerous to examine or question directly). 1/
Why even play ttrpgs if not to ask and explore big theological questions?

*is currently playing a greatly-wronged cleric trying to make sense of an ancient theological scroll that says something about "loving your enemies"

Can an ATProto PDS be read-only? Can a data repository be statically served like an RSS feed and just be picked up by a Relay or AppView?

A few years ago I got a discman for my kid and now I get her CDs, often used, as a present. I think the physical object communicates that people made it, made choices, created art together & did so for other people to appreciate. It’s not content. Anyway maybe you want to bring hard media back too?

Sorry but “series” needs a better plural

I get it, Latin fifth declension nouns blah blah

But what are we using for the new plural going forward?

“serieses” is giving too much Gollum

We need this thread immediately. I’ll start:

The Delta lounge (forgive me for being bougie) uses Grown Alchemist hand soap—sweet orange, cedarwood, and sage—and it smells like being held gently by someone stronger *and* kinder than you.

What about the rest of you? What joys have you smelled?
I thought this said smell joys and got so excited to people listing scents they liked this week
