Remember this:

RFK Jr is directly responsible for increased illness & deaths we will see from vaccine-preventable diseases.

Vaccines save millions every year.
His anti-science actions will kill people.

ESPECIALLY the most vulnerable. Children. Older adults. Immunocompromised.

In my heart, I feel like protecting vaccines will be the fight of my generation for my career as an epidemiologist. It was HIV/AIDS for my mentor. It was polio and smallpox for my mother and father’s separate generations.

Oh my goodness, I've never managed to capture steam catching the sunlight quite this well before.

I love these diffraction colours so much!

You get similar things in the clouds sometimes, usually in thin high clouds. They're known as iridescent clouds, but it's a different mechanism from oil etc.

Racism doesn’t disappear inside autistic spaces and Black autistic people have been saying this for a long time. Autism doesn’t cancel out the biases we absorb from the world, and it doesn’t excuse harm, many autistic spaces aren’t safe spaces for Black #autistic people 👌🏽

just because a conversation isnt always the most comfortable to have or its something you may not want to hear, doesnt mean its purpose is division, I’m acknowledging that not all autistic experiences are treated equally, and that’s something we have to face to make things better for everyone,
Talking about race and autism isn’t dividing the autistic community it’s strengthening it.
When we name the racial disparities Black autistic people face, we’re not “pitting” anyone against anyone else, okay? because someone said thats what i was doing 🙄

I used to work at a supermarket which made me pursue an autism diagnosis to be excused from this requirement. I worked in the bakery! I told them "I can either be safe around the ovens *or* I can stop and smile at customers" and guess who didn't care if I got burned. 🤷
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.

RFK Jr. released a video to the Minamata Convention on Mercury where he lied about vaccines.

He said “no amount of mercury should ever be injected into a child” & urged a global ban on thimerosal-containing vaccines.

Good thing: no child IS injected with mercury.

This is excellent. People don't understand that when we're overwhelmed we often can't go into noisy spaces. Academic networking events I'm looking at you
A useful animated video, illustrating how everyday noises—ones non-autistic people may not notice—can overwhelm an autistic person, in some cases leading to bolting and meltdowns that uninformed people dismiss as "autistic behaviors." Please watch and share.

Oooh. This is v interesting. In my dialect "hadn't have" feels normal but maybe that's an overgeneralisation from the conditional "couldn't have" etc?
Latest blog post:
If I hadn't have had the phenomenon pointed out to me, I might not have noticed the extra 'have' in this sentence. But is it a British or American 'have'?

Have a read and see:

Autistic people get a bad rap for universally lacking empathy (some of us do identify as experiencing low empathy - many do not) but the truth is most people do not, on a day to day basis, truly empathize with people who are fundamentally different from them.

So much of autism can be things that are unseeable…

There’s outward behaviours, but also:

- how do you make sense of the world?
- how do you process sensory input?
- what was your childhood like?
- how do you experience friendship?
- what methods/ routines do you have for navigating the world?

I just…I can’t believe we haven’t made stronger norms around this stuff
Just saw a care home employee post a video of one of her charges dancing when she thought she was alone and care providers, you really need to…well, CARE about your patients’ privacy! My grandma would have been mortified.

Kids, elders, and disabled people aren’t your content.

Bad news: Anti-vaxxers have been given leadership positions at US health agencies and are doing everything they can to take away vaccines.

Good news: Despite all their spin, in reality they have been too incompetent to do anything effective to restrict vaccine access in any meaningful way so far.
