There is a cool cognitive bias called the Einstellung effect. Basically: if you solve several problems the same way, the next problem you encounter you will try to solve the same way.

"when all you have is a hammer," basically.

There's an interesting cognitive bias called the Misinformation Effect.

It is very easy to study this. Take people, show them a video of, say, a man buying a hot dog at a street cart.

Then, make them read very confident but very wrong descriptions of that event.

When someone becomes disabled or chronically ill, people will twist themselves into knots finding a way to blame them. They need to find fault so they don’t have to face the randomness of life.

The truth is, anyone can become disabled at any time.

Good health is not a guarantee.

People tend to have casual brand loyalty even for mundane products except during huge life events: moving, marriage, kids, job changes, retirement. It’s why pregnant people are targeted so hard with samples: capture them for the next 20+ years.

Canadians are never shifting back to American brands.

I keep seeing posters around public restrooms written by health departments or university services that say things like “protect yourself from disease: wash your hands” or “hand washing kills the virus that causes covid” and at this point I’d say those are publicly funded lies by omission
