10 years ago Mark Carney warned about the "existential threat" posed by climate catastrophe and the need to move from fossil fuel burning.
Now he is using Stephen Harper's lines about becoming an "energy super power."
This is a powerful analysis on the MOU.

The Pipeline MOU is a Tragic Failure of Vision
At best, Mark Carney capitulated to Danielle Smith's backward view of the future. At worst, the Prime Minister shares that view

Great read for anyone needing a spark of optimism. The electrotech revolution is coming and all the lobbying and back-tracking on climate commitments won't change that reality.

Many city halls are deep in budget-time. Some are pushing austerity ideologies, and are ignoring the difference between costs and cost-savers/value creators. Citizens, PAY ATTENTION, and never forget that the TRUTH about a city’s REAL aspirations isn’t found in its visions. It’s found in its budget.

Friends, can I ask a favour.

Our latest Honest Government out is a serious warning to Canada from Australia, which acts as a cautionary tail about the harms of the gas (LNG) export industry... Hence the cameo (spoiler alert) from our own aussie climate criminals, Woodside Energy

38. Ordinary people have no idea how much progress we’ve made. Tell people at parties that UK carbon emissions in 2023 were at their lowest level since 1879, for example. Most developed economies are now reducing carbon emissions without lowering quality of life.

1/ A longtime Wired editor just wrote a mush-brained essay about how he totally missed the political rot of Silicon Valley (& still doesn't get it).

But in the late 1990s, a Wired journalist warned of a toxic ideology bubbling up from tech. Paulina Borsook has largely been erased. Let's change that

UK's End of Coal:

"Each these 375ft tall, 290ft diameter cooling towers used to process a staggering 7.5 million gallons of water per hour.

Safely bringing them down meant using around half a tonne of explosives across ~16,500 holes, connected with 19km of detonating cord."

💯 👇 I think about this all the time. one day our descendents will be like, they did wut?? 🤯
The oil industry misinformation has everyone so tied in knots thinking about EV battery fires that we forgot that driving around with gallons of extremely flammable liquid and lighting it on fire in a metal block 2,000 times per minute is kind of a bad idea. bsky.app/profile/d2lo...
When I first got an EV 3 years ago the second most common myth I heard after “the batteries will die” (not true, they last longer than a gas engine) is that EVs catch fire. A new study shows EVs are much less likely to catch fire than gas cars!

Fires per 100,000:
Hybrid: 3,500!
Gas: 1,500
EV: 25!
