I don't know what the effects will be of a lot of people outsourcing as much executive function as they can to their phone but my guess is "not great"

I ran for ALA President. I didn’t win. I lost—and I’m proud.
I did it my way, with an incredible team, and a campaign was joyful, substantive, and unapologetically high femme. No regrets!
I hope you’ll run too! I hope you win. Holler if you want to chat.

Most of the towns in the part of South Texas where I live—the Río Grande Valley—are partly underwater as we live through some of the heaviest rain in more than a century, breaking records going back to 1911.
No one was ready. With government weather alerts being dismantled, the cost will be high.

Funding for organizations like NEH and IMLS is such a ridiculously measly pittance, it’s of course absurd to claim that eliminating their activities is “efficient.” We know that. On the contrary, they’re *so* efficient and effective that they represent a threat to their project.

ALA President-Elect:
@lindsonmars.bsky.social has my vote because
(1) communication is vital & Lindsay does it better than most in LIS
(2) made wage equity a key issue
(3) book bans are a problem - but not the ONLY one and she's been consistent about this

I wouldn't be a librarian today without student loans. Next to no one from my economic class, from my generation would be.
I wouldn't have taken those loans without the promise of forgiveness for nonprofit work.
The agreement I signed, that I'm bound to as a loanee, should bind the loaner, too.
