I don't know what the effects will be of a lot of people outsourcing as much executive function as they can to their phone but my guess is "not great"

I ran for ALA President. I didn’t win. I lost—and I’m proud.

I did it my way, with an incredible team, and a campaign was joyful, substantive, and unapologetically high femme. No regrets!

I hope you’ll run too! I hope you win. Holler if you want to chat.

ALRIGHT! I just received 4,000 copies of this LOSERS ATTACK OUR LIBRARIES postcard that I designed. The text on the back (shown in the product listing) was generated through many suggestions from librarians on Bluesky. These are 10 for $3.00 (plus shipping). halfletterpress.com/losers-attac...

Just a reminder that the ALA Elections close this Weds April 2nd. I'm voting for Lindsay @lindsonmars.bsky.social because for years I've seen her fight the good fight within ALA, even when it was hard. She'll be an excellent advocate for library workers! 📚🌟 #CronkTheVote

Most of the towns in the part of South Texas where I live—the Río Grande Valley—are partly underwater as we live through some of the heaviest rain in more than a century, breaking records going back to 1911.

No one was ready. With government weather alerts being dismantled, the cost will be high.

Everyone doing this work for any period of time knew this was coming.

It's no longer "I'll do it some day," as so many thought to themselves when we threw warnings out in 2020, then 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.

NOW is beyond time for doing something to protect your libraries.

Funding for organizations like NEH and IMLS is such a ridiculously measly pittance, it’s of course absurd to claim that eliminating their activities is “efficient.” We know that. On the contrary, they’re *so* efficient and effective that they represent a threat to their project.

ALA President-Elect:

@lindsonmars.bsky.social has my vote because

(1) communication is vital & Lindsay does it better than most in LIS

(2) made wage equity a key issue

(3) book bans are a problem - but not the ONLY one and she's been consistent about this

I wouldn't be a librarian today without student loans. Next to no one from my economic class, from my generation would be.

I wouldn't have taken those loans without the promise of forgiveness for nonprofit work.

The agreement I signed, that I'm bound to as a loanee, should bind the loaner, too.
