Libraries have been moving to rely more on networks to fill the gaps of austerity, and now they are unraveling.
“ALL of Florida lost its [interlibrary loan] services as of October 1. This, of course, most harms those in rural communities. That means those with the most to lose and with the weakest access to education and entertainment materials are now wholly dependent on what their own library owns…”
The Current State of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (October 2025 Edition)
Grant money that should be going to library projects is going to state-sponsored propaganda, among other IMLS updates.

So on point. I can't remember exactly what year it was but when Taylor Swift used a Grammy win to drop more merch, it was the jumped shark moment for her that she rather just dive into money than creativity.
No Good Art Comes From Greed | Defector
The packages arrived square and thin and carefully wrapped on Saturday afternoon. There were three of them, but only one was mine. If I could have rejected my package, sent it back from whence it came...

I was back at 26 Federal Plaza today, where an ICE agent violently threw this bereft woman to the ground in front of her kids. She had not touched him. She did not pose any threat. She had to be taken to the hospital. (🎥: Elias Eliahu)

For the love of humanity:
If attending an online meeting and you need to talk, please use a microphone or anything with a mic on it please. Your crappy computer catches room echo and distorts your voice.
That's all.

Also, this is what is wrong with the cable news formula. Even when they know nothing, they must fill the air and so they fill it with speculation. We don’t know why this terrible shooting happened. It’s dangerous to speculate motives or politics. Please stop.

Happy National Library Week! If you don't have a library card, go get one. If you have one, use it!
Public goods thrive when everybody uses them. That's why they push kids to charter, home, and private schools, why they sow doubt and fear of libraries and our collections.
Use it or lose it!

Exactly what needed to be said at #acrl2025 where too many were uncritical of AI and its effects on society especially our students.
Here's my lightning talk about AI at #acrl2025 this morning. Thanks to @nicoloff.bsky.social for recording.

Ran into a demonstration of indigenous community members outside the Hennepin County Library over the brutality by a private security company on a local man. According to them after George Floyd instead of reforming the police they invested in private "mercenaries".
