What am I looking to get out of bluesky? Genuine question that ya know, I could take to my journal, but why not explore this in real time and see where it goes...

Woah. The article linked in this thread is 🤯😳
ever since I learned about three-cueing I've developed infinitely more patience for replies on social media. mfers literally do not know how to read. people are walking around conjuring random meanings into words they don't know, and they don't know a lot of words. it's crazy

Medicaid is not for sale.
NASA is not for sale.
The Post Office is not for sale.
America is not for sale.

We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

This is my best intro guide to alt text for images that don't have text or aren't entirely text. Alt text for images of text is a different beast entirely.
If you're seeing encouragement/demands to do alt text and you're overwhelmed or confused about how to do it and you're worried you're going to do it wrong...

this thread is for you.

First: prompt questions to get you started.
Alt text prompt Qs:

What would someone who can't see the image need to know about it in order to take part in the conversation? What is it about this image that made you choose it? What are the important details someone who could see the image would take away from it?

(Not for images of text.)

This thread is reminding me of a book I originally DNF, but now want to find the name of and pick back up...
When everything is lost--I mean OFFICIALLY, truly lost in every conceivable way--when everything is chaos and there are no instructions or procedures to cover the situation you are in, you look at the person next to you and you do the next right thing, and then the next right thing after that.

Tomorrow, I'm doing a webinar for clinicians who want to advocate for Medicaid with their federal elected leaders, as Medicaid faces existential threats.

Clinicians are some of the best possible advocates for Medicaid, and I am really, really good at this. We won't waste your time. 🧵

Additional scripts for cis het white men who want to be better allies:

“What a weird thing to say”

“Do you hear yourself right now?”

“You shouldn’t say shit like that to people”

“I won’t let you talk to them that way”

“That’s a disgusting opinion to have”

“Shut the fuck up, dude”
Cis men truly need to understand the power of saying “that’s fucked up bro why would you say that” to another cis man
The responsibility for resisting and correcting this behavior shouldn’t fall solely on a specific gender. If you’re a man of conscience and you see another man mimicking Nick Fuentes, fuck him up on sight before the women even get a chance. I mean that.

Okay, here’s the deal: RIGHT NOW is the time for concrete, direct action.

If you’re following me, it’s probably because you care about trans art and trans literature. The article below lays out my suggestions for dozens of concrete actions you can take to preemptively combat literary censorship.
The Trans Literature Preservation Project: A Practical Guide to Resisting Censorship
Project 2025 wants to criminalize trans literature. Here’s a game plan for keeping our stories alive.

“Disabled people have sacrificed so much over last 4 years. Every day another tool is taken away, accessibility reduced & our agency stripped back. We are constantly told we don’t deserve to survive”

My article from May on mask bans & eugenics.

Disabled people are begging you to listen:
We Are Witnessing Real Time Eugenics... and People Don't Seem to Care.
Mask bans and revocation of medical exemptions have been all over social media this week - and anti-maskers are reacting with glee. They are celebrating disabled people losing a tool for protection.

So when it comes to "grow community locally" stuff, here's something non-Disabled folks especially have to figure out how to counter.

There is a long-standing pattern where chronically ill people, even those who previously had extensive support networks and community, are abandoned and isolated.

We don’t like resistance stories without a cathartic revolution, they don’t feel like blowing up the Death Star. They feel like loss. They’re not. We need to revisit these worst case scenarios to see that, even when resistance didn’t *win* it did *work*. It saved lives & livelihoods. 23/?

Leftists who don’t care about the war on porn should look closer. Obscenity laws are the first step in banning ALL “degenerate” art.

They are already saying that drag queens and trans people are sex predators. That queer books are porn. They are priming the people to lump it all together!!
Pay attention to the newly accelerated war on porn.

My point (!) is this:

We’ve been taught that history happens in fits & starts & is generally the work of individual great men (…). That’s a lie.

We have a rich, deep, diverse history of resisting & rising up against oppression, & it all depended on the steady, painstaking work of organizing.
