Just so everybody understands, Booker has been speaking cogently about the issues the entire time and Strom Thurmond famously spent hours reading from the encyclopedia, because segregationists were and are dumbshits
If Sen. Cory Booker makes it to 7:19 p.m. EST, he will break segregationist Dixiecrat Strom Thurmond's record for his 24 hour 18 minute Senate floor speech against the Civil Rights Act of 1957.

yall we can’t collectively screech that “no one’s doing anything!” and then say “no not like that” when someone actually does something.

is Booker’s filibuster gonna save the world? of course not. but since courage begets courage it could lead to more. I’m fucking cynical as hell but come on.

guess Jeff Bezos got tired of being overshadowed by Musk and Zuck and needed to remind us all that he is also an evil piece of shit whose very existence is a stain on humanity

Spent the afternoon exfoliating, hydrating & ensuring the Gulf of Mexico is exactly where I left it on MapQuest. Somewhere between my second serum & a deep existential sigh, I couldn’t help but wonder — in a world addicted to power & rebrands, is the Gulf of Mexico the last bastion of authenticity?

First time at my union hall. Really impressed the whimsical sherbet colored chairs. Plotting the revolution. I’m excited.

This is my favorite picture of Stonewall.

They knew they were getting arrested just for being LGBTQ+.

Yet... they're still here, standing outside of the boarded up Stonewall Inn, smiling as the world was at a fever pitch of hatred against them.

I think about it a lot in moments like this.

Getting books from the public library feels like such abundance. As many as i want! As often as I want! Don’t need to select which ones based on cost! The pleasures of the commons. If only we didn’t live in a country that hated (what remains of) the commons so fiercely.

One of the best things you can do right now is read books. Buy them. Borrow them from the library. Gift them.

Read history. Read fiction. Read science writing. Read anything that shows you the world is bigger than what fascists say it is.

Read to remember why your resistance matters. 📚💙

They’ve successfully stigmatized the term DEI even as most Americans still think the actual work is valid and valuable. So just drop the name. Make them demonize the most asinine/bureaucratic terms you can think of, make them look insane for outlawing “Strategic Partnerships” or whatever
