Eliminating ICE is the modern equivalent of opposing the Iraq War, and right now there are two types of Democrats: those who can see where the ball is moving and go to it, and those who will be swept away because they refused to do so.
“I would rather you vote for what is morally correct,” Davidson said.

“Don’t talk to me about my own morality,” DeLauro shot back.

“Don’t tell your constituents what they can and can’t talk to you about,” replied Rev. Nathan Empsall. “What you are voting for is not moral.”

Homan: "I begged for the last two months on TV for the rhetoric to stop. I said in March -- if the rhetoric doesn't stop, there is gonna be bloodshed. And there has been. I wish I wasn't right. I don't want to see anybody die."

The fact that Vance and Miller - the most powerful members of the administration - are publicly socially intermeshed with open and unapologetic Nazis is the Chekhov’s gun of Trump’s second term, even if the press have refuse to acknowledge.

Now it’s shooting us in the face.

the regime considers all resistance violent resistance. you chanting while holding a sign and carefully remaining on the sidewalk is as worthy of the death penalty to them as someone throwing a Molotov.
They are telling us in unequivocal terms that if you show solidarity with immigrants who are in the literal crosshairs of Trump/MAGA, you're risking a death sentence.

Haven’t read the piece yet. But it may be he best description I’ve heard of Klein generally.
I really appreciated this thoughtful piece about Ta-Nehisi Coates & Ezra Klein. Andrea Pitzer says “lost” folks like Klein “don’t have a clear idea how this moment fits into history and what it is exactly that they’re doing”. [degenerateart.beehiiv.com]
You don’t have to swallow frogs
Klein and Coates show that if you don’t know what your core beliefs are, you’re going to get played.

The FDA statement ends with a paragraph undermining its own warning.

They signal parents to avoid acetaminophen. Except sometimes. And then:

No “causal relationship… established” with ADHD or autism

AND

Alternatives to acetaminophen have “well-documented adverse impacts.”

By now, you’ve probably seen these propaganda banners sprouting up on federal buildings.

We’ve uncovered how much these banners cost through never-before-seen documents.

And why they’re illegal:

it's absolutely critical to understand in this moment that people aren't largely reacting to who Charlie Kirk was as a person, but who they knew him as because of what tiny pieces of him got clipped out and stuck in their newsfeeds.
reposting with alt text because this feels incredibly significant. the right-wing disinfo machine means a lot of the people grieving Charlie Kirk never heard any of the things he said that would have tarnished his brand as Guy Who Just Wants to Have Dialogue Across the Aisle

Democrats will never be as cruel as Republicans after a political assassination. That’s to their credit. But it may not be to their advantage.

They’re all smoke and mirrors, fraudulent knights of the justice system.

Courage. Use it.

1/🧵 Following up on our study featured in NYT today, this figure provides a macro-level view:

Dem vote shares rise with turnout parity (left) but fall with party-level ideological moderation (right). This suggests mobilizing base voters > persuading swing voters by moving to the center.

This is the peril of the current political moment, compared to the 20th century, when the alternative offered by the USSR and revolutionary leftist movements, combined with the popular sacrifices borne during both world wars, forced Western states to adopt a reformist approach to capitalism.
Addendum II:

Recognizing this is vital to understanding and responding to Trumpism.

But it also raises the ever-present risk in conflict of mirroring: becoming the enemy to defeat the enemy.

We must defeat Trumpism, but without abandoning the politics and economy of care that is its antithesis.

What we’re witnessing in America is what happens when disordered discourse captures a political party, then the state itself. The Republican Party was the first to fall - abandoning truth for conspiracy, ideology for grievance, and policy for performative outrage.
