Wrote article once tracing the white supremacist lineage of the phrase “diversity is not our strength” - and now the former Democratic gov, fresh off posting one of the most racist (& AI-generated) campaign ads in recent memory, says this www.huffpost.com/entry/steve-...

Tim is one of the best reporters in the country - just such a stupid decision on the part of Penske Media
2. Rolling Stone is owned by a large media conglomerate, which is ending remote work across its brands.

My home is Portland, Oregon, ~1,000 miles from the nearest office, so this marks the end of the line for me at RS.

wrote about this in my book, but the first time i saw/heard Americans use the term "remigrate" it was in the leaked private chats of the white supremacists who organized the deadly Charlottesville rally in 2017 — including Thomas Rousseau (now head of Patriot Front) & the leaders of Identity Evropa

need to consider that this administration's anti-antifa campaign is essentially directed by the likes of Glenn Beck, Andy Ngo, & Jack Posobiec
Glenn Beck says that after he aired a show on Antifa, FBI agents acting on the behest of Kash Patel came to get tips. Here's who the segment targeted, largely through strained connections and guilt by association: www.mediamatters.org/glenn-beck/g...

the admin that imprisoned and tried to deport a student over a pro-Palestinian op-ed, calling it anti-semitism, calls outrage over "I love Hitler" texts by young Republicans "pearl-clutching"
Fascinating. Politico notes that when notified of the texts, many state-level Republicans fired or condemned these cretins. Now Vance emerges to excuse the racism, and calls the reaction to it "pearl clutching."

He seems determined to purge the party of its last enclaves of decency.

Always funny to think back about how the GOP uniformly blamed antifa for J6 in the immediate aftermath… fast forward a few years later and they’re like “no J6 was good and we did it and only we can assault Capitol police officers #BackTheBlue
Mike Johnson: "They berated a Capitol police officer, screamed at him. He was merely standing his post. It shows, again, their disdain for law enforcement, the Democrats, screaming, assaulting officers."

How W. E. B. Du Bois responded to government policing of "anti-American" sentiment during the 1910s:

"I took great satisfaction in being able to sit back in my chair and answer blandly, 'We are seeking to have the Constitution of the United States thoroughly and completely enforced.' ”

Thinking about how much of their violence has been normalized already, how scenes that caused shockwaves 6 weeks ago are now part of the rhythm of daily life. Watched a TikTok from a daughter who has to do her parents' laundry & get their groceries because they're in hiding. This is just it now

In recent National Security Presidential Memorandum “countering domestic terrorism” the Trump admin said “common threads animating this violent conduct” included “anti-Christianity” …

Meanwhile armed agents of that same admin are causing Christians, trying to worship and pray, to flee from church
"After the warning, neighbors showed up and formed a human chain outside the church to guide parishioners home. NBC Chicago found more organizers doing the same for the beginning of the 6 p.m. mass..."

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.
Lmao is this supposed to be a bad thing?

Heritage president Kevin Roberts, in a truly revealing passage of his Foreword to the Project 2025 policy agenda, states that the project of “dismantling the administrative state” is not about the actual size of government at all:

The goal is to cut “the secret lifeblood of the Great Awokening.”
a key thing about vought — and all of these guys — is that they have a totally top down and hierarchical vision of the world. they believe that the cultural changes they hate can be turned off by destroying the federal government because they can’t imagine that they emerged bottom-up in society
What he’s railing against is a profound shift in culture, status… He’s obsessed with the idea that America is controlled by a leftist “ruling elite” - but “elite” isn’t defined socio-economically or by political power, it means something like: Getting to define “real America” and who gets to belong.

The promotion of pseudoscience about a supposed “cause” or “cure” of autism and the destruction of special education (and all of public education, really) are part of the same project. It is a fascist attempt to expel certain people from the body politic, based in eugenics.
There are reports that the *entire* office of special education at the US Dept of Education has been cut. These hardworking folks ensure kids with disabilities get equal access to a quality education.

America’s children deserve better than this.
