It feels like all too many people are still unaware

🗣️ STARBUCKS BARISTAS HAVE BEEN ON STRIKE FOR OVER A MONTH

DO NOT BUY STARBUCKS

"Yeah, but my store's not striking"
"My stores non-union"

DO NOT BUY A N Y STARBUCKS PRODUCT

ALL STORES ARE A "STRIKING STORE"
Day THIRTY-NINE of our national ULP strike - and baristas are fired up, united, and taking action.

Our demands are clear: Starbucks needs to stop union busting and finalize a contract with the pay, hours, and protections we need to succeed. #NoContractNoCoffee

Honestly, probably in my personal top five list of most impactful works of journalism.
ProPublica spoke to about 150 people who had lived in homeless encampments when cities cleared them out in “sweeps.”

We distributed notecards so people could tell us about the toll in their own words.

There’s a lot of noise and bullshit out there, but these folks are governing with their values.

For the love of God, please read and share this FAQ on what powers local government has over the ICE permit
Here is a FAQ sheet that will clarify what Portland City Council does and doesn't have power to do in relation to revoking the Macadam ICE permit.

TL;DR:
(1) CC cannot unilaterally revoke the ICE permit;
(2) CC cannot lean on PP&D to do it;
(3) the CC is exercising its authority in other ways.

IMO everyone should be extremely mad about ICE. It's really fucking weird to spend your time organizing your anger at the one immigrant on city council who is also the person who has spent the most time trying to figure out what city powers can be leveraged to add costs to doing business with ICE.

something profoundly broken about people weaponizing their children as a reason that we should continue to invest in sweeping the homeless. Why is sheltering your children from having to see poverty and injustice more important than just building a policy where we eliminate poverty and injustice?

In the week since Mayor Wilson began enforcing the public camping ban, we are seeing MORE tents in East Portland. Those folks are just being swept into my district.

I told the mayor that this is what would happen and asked him to bring extra resources to East PDX to meet the displaced. He did not.
