Part of what is going on here isn't just inflicting hunger, it's inflicting humiliation. Human beings should be able to feed themselves and their families with dignity.

The sadism is the point.
Here in Atlanta yesterday, more than 2,000 people waited in their cars—one woman for 14 hours—for a box of food. The giveaway ended early; there wasn't enough to go around.

Multiply this scene by countless others across the country, and you get a sense of how crushing the desperation is right now.

Our principles are disposable to them. Even though we are disposable to them, they need us to consume their commodities. Colbert can be a good person, but that doesn't matter. He was singing in a chorus run by the same bosses.

Make it make sense.

This should be the end of Noem’s career in public life. It almost certainly won’t be, however, which is itself damning.
HASSAN: What is habeas corpus?

NOEM: Habeas corpus is a constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country

THE PENTAGON BUDGET JUST HIT A TRILLION DOLLARS.

Not a single pundit from either political party said “how are we going to pay for it?!”

Don’t dare tell us we cannot ALL have healthcare, housing, and education.

This. 1000x this. Unprecedented, open monetization of the presidency, first at his hotel every day in 2017-21, & now in even more unprecedentedly & overly corrupt & unconstitutional ways. And we've just yawned as a country. It's shameful. And everyone in Congress who swore oaths is violating them.
I’m still baffled at how America took one of the basic principles of the presidency — the occupant shouldn’t be able to benefit financially from the office — and just said, nah, that just doesn’t count for this one guy.

On Workers Memorial Day, America’s unions mourn the workers who have lost their lives or been injured or ill on the job.

Every worker should be able to go home at the end of the day safe and healthy, and we’ll keep fighting like hell to make that a reality for EVERY worker.

Let’s take to the streets to remember all the workers who lost their lives and stand in solidarity with those whose bosses are becoming richer at the expense of their workers’ lives and rights.
Today is Workers Memorial Day, honoring those who have been injured or killed on the job.

Billionaires should not exist in a just society.
Amazon’s CEO contributed just 0.4% of his taxable pay to Social Security last year.

Meanwhile, Amazon’s median-paid worker contributed 6.2%.

Amazon's workers paid a 15x higher rate of their taxable income into Social Security than their CEO.

Scrap the cap.
