it's not important. that's the answer. it is very very very rarely true, but it's not important.
Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.

Some asshole peeled off the Progress Pride flag on the outside of our window.

Amusingly they left the trans flag, and I'm guessing that's cos they're too stupid to know what it is.

So anyway, good luck to them getting rid of the actual flag that I just bought to hang on the inside 😁

After a pause, we are once again accepting pitches for games.
If you've designed a TTRPG (especially one built on PbtA, Forged in the Dark, or Fate) that's near-complete, you can find details about how to pitch us (and the services we provide) here:

Saw the plastic surgeon today about my ear. He's quite sure it's just a lesion and not a bcc, but because it still won't heal I'm being put on the non-urgent waiting list to have it removed, which will probably be a few months.

They will biopsy it to be 100% certain, but no reason to worry.

Took Doofus dog to the vets, and they did some blood tests which show that she is absolutely fine (this dog is healthier than we are), was probably just a bug or something but shes all good.

They took her in the back to draw it & all we could hear was the vet tech trying to get her to sit still 😆

Finally got to sit and read The End Times issue 1 from @badhandbooks.bsky.social - in fact Cuddles and I sat around our metaphorical fire and read it together, which felt fitting.

It's started strong! Nice intro to the world, lots of subtle info, etc. I'm already looking forward to next month 😁

Today, we remember and we honour the trans lives lost to violence and discrimination.

At Anne Health, we stand with the trans community in grief, solidarity, and resilience.

Trans remembrance is a reminder that every trans person deserves safety, dignity, and compassionate, affirming healthcare.

Some actual GOOD news amongst the rest: @penstricken.bsky.social are taking a short story I wrote for their next issue 🥲

I've been sending them stuff every time, and gotten close before, so it's really nice to get there 😁😁😁

Doofus dog has managed to keep some mouthfuls of dry food down today so hopefully she's done throwing up everywhere (and we can stop waking up all night every time she moves). Gonna keep feeding her in small portions til Monday, when we have the vet appointment, and just gope she keeps improving.

Sick dog aside, I also went to the foot surgeon again today. Sadly the corticosteroid injection did fuck all, so now I have to have two of the midfoot joints fused which is a major, involved, painful surgery with a long recovery time even without my other issues.

But before he can do that!

The HHS report on gender affirming care released it's updated report showing they stacked its authors with anti-trans hate-group affiliated members, several of whom aren't even doctors with any sort of clinical experience. They selected their own ideologically friendly peer reviewers.

It's a joke.

Our poor Doofus dog has been throwing up eeeeeeverywhere. She's been doing it off and on for a couple of weeks now, but she occasionally gets a sensitive stomach (usually because she got into something she shouldn't but sometimes just randomly).

Youngest cat knocked Cuddles' tv over by running at high speed into it, and smashed the screen 🤦

So now I have to travel to the money tree and pick off enough to buy a new one.
Luckily for me I'm gonna have some lovely new cat fur mittens to keep my hands warm...

Just a note that the US passed landmark civil rights legislation enforcing the rights of disabled students to reasonable accommodation. This is a form of segregation. And segregationists like this also tend to believe in other forms of segregation.
A lot of education discourse is at root an inability to decide whether the purpose of our education system is to 1) teach material and measure learning 2) reward students who work hard 3) separate the smart kids (destined for smart guy jobs) from the dumb kids (destined to serve the smart guys)
