A little odd, a lot awkward. Dresses with pockets. Comms for social change. Oxford commas and en dashes. Listening to a tennis podcast.

Just a South African girl who met Billy Jean King in a restroom in Johannesburg 🥹🥹🥹 She is incredibly lovely! Illana Kloss was so gracious to offer to take a photo! 💚

The stadium Trump is in is named after Arthur Ashe, the tennis legend.

What many people today probably don't know is that Ashe was literally arrested in front of the White House in 1992 for protesting the George H.W. Bush administration's treatment of Haitian refugees. www.upi.com/Archives/199...
BREAKING: Trump makes his first appearance at the US Open. There were audible boos and a few light claps.

Important to stress the stadium is at most 10% full and the start time has been pushed to 2:30pm ET.

Felix taking a set off Sinner is the first thing to happen in the ATP in months that has moved me lmao

I have no idea if he can keep this level, but he’s doing well man.

Irrespective of the outcome against Sinner, FAA over this hard-court swing is kind of what tennis always hoped/expected he would become. His serve is just too much of a weapon not to be a platform for these levels of the game. Confidence in his body and consequently his game has been massive.

The Botic vdZ loss last year feeds into perception that Alcaraz is streaky + inconsistent. But that's the only time in his last 12 slams he hasn't reached the QFs. And he's reached the final of last 7 events.

On misconceptions and how he's improved ⬇️

Alcaraz's wavering focus and up-and-down matches have created a false impression of a player who is on a remarkable winning streak.

Yes, Coco’s serve needs work.

But didn’t you see progress, though? I did.

She has been breaking down and rebuilding her serve in the middle of the effing U.S. Open.

That’s insanely hard to do.

Hell, it’s insanely hard to *want* to do.

For the first time in a long time, I see a path forward. ❤️

The Auger-Aliassime forehand was absolutely SAVAGE tonight. For those of us who've been watching Felix since juniors, THIS is the guy we always hoped to see. Fearless, ruthless, electric. What a performance.

Can’t decide if it was greater to watch Felix get one of the biggest wins of his career or that it came at the expense of another year Zverev doesn’t win a slam. I guess we’ll never know.

Also nice wink from tennis that Zverev who’s been name dropping the Nadal’s name any time he could this summer after his stint at the academy gets beaten by Toni’s ex tennis collab. As I keep saying about tennis: Netflix could never.

thoughts upon first glance at the draw:

Muchova has to play Venus in R1 + she’s on Coco’s side of the draw, RIP🥲

Barbie K vs Mboko in R1 😭

Aryna’s quarter is pretty good for her title defense (minus the Rybakina qf but I think she’ll be fine)

I will be seated to watch Sakkari vs Maria
