Congrats again to the well-credentialed & well-connected Northeast Corridor elites who told us that Scott Bessent was a well-qualified & credible Treasury Secretary because he also had the right credentials & elite connections:

BESSENT: We had record volume on Friday and everything is working very smoothly. So the American people can take great comfort in that.

This is funny. And the serious problem with the NYT is it misinforms about reality. Not with inaccuracy so much as emphasis, perspective, and framing. That makes it a bad news source. Go to the Guardian, or Wired, or others/ independent sources. You don't need the NYT or LA Times, or WaPo.

If Trump is not planning to comply with the law and send appropriated money to blue states, I don't see any reason people in blue states should have to continue paying taxes to the federal government
another thing every other president in history would be impeached for just happened
TRUMP: The NCAA has complied immediately. That's good. But I understand Maine -- is the governor of Maine here?

JANET MILLS: Yeah I'm here

TRUMP: Are you not gonna comply?

JM: I'm going to comply with state and federal law

T: You better do it bc you're not gonna get any federal funding at all

Important new in Eric Adams case. Judge Ho does the right thing.

One reason I found their argument so contemptible is that they treat birthright citizenship as an interesting puzzle to solve, and all of their methodological errors flow from there.
"Why aren't people nicer to me as I give faux scholarly cover to a political movement to strip children of their American citizenship?"

There's a total lack of awareness about the gravity of what they're doing, besides the sloppy work.

Judges are going to have to start finding people in contempt, issuing fines and probably throwing some in jail.
BREAKING

Federal Judge Amy Berman Jackson just issued an order preventing the Trump administration from:

1. Deleting CFPB data

2. Firing CFPB employees

3. Transferring money from CFPB's reserve fund

Right after the order was issued, nearly all CFPB employees were placed on administrative leave

Among the worst features of how we talk about crime is the use of “criminal” to describe ppl who have not been convicted of crimes. Arresting criminals. Prosecuting criminals.

Criminals are not “found.” They are made, following processes are constitutionally due. No one is a criminal upon arrest.

If you're in politics (and therefore have a giant ego) but don't have ideological or group-based commitments, what's left is the commitment to your own ego. That's why politicians who position themselves as beyond partisanship tend to be the most cultish and self-absorbed, like Trump or Sinema
you might think this is bad governance but it's actually just authentic Gen X culture
On her recent decision to vote with Manchin to block President Biden’s reappointment of a top labor board nominee, Senator Kyrsten Sinema simply stated, “Don’t give a shit.”

School vouchers are a re-segregation tax, in which everyone is forced to pay the most racist white people so they can avoid sending their kids to schools with minorities.

The only plus side is that the schools suck and don't help their kids get into better colleges. 🙏
As voucher programs expand, they worsen. In states with universal voucher programs, more of the public monies go to students already in private school and to wealthier families.
GOP states are embracing vouchers. Wealthy parents are benefitting.
Most of the beneficiaries are incoming kindergarteners or students already enrolled in private schools.
