The agent responds, "Have you all not learned from the past couple of days?"

"Learned what?" she asks

Why are such dire transit service cuts happening in Portland? Lack of leadership. The state transportation package is now stalled as it goes to the voters, and in any case its transit funding was only for 2 years. The region or the City of Portland may need to step up. 7/

Attending any events in Saudi Arabia is questionable; the comedians who performed in Riyadh were rightly criticized.

But for the director of PBOT to attend an event in the country that smuggled out one of its citizens after his reckless driving killed a local teenager is particularly galling.

A $10 million, PCEF-funded effort to keep bike lanes clean is nearly up-and-running; but folks who use bike lanes have the same frustrations as every other year.

I have written a lot about the perils of poorly maintained (and leaf-filled) bike lanes. That didn’t stop me from wiping out in one just now, falling on my face and scraping up my knee pretty badly. This is a truly hazardous situation, @pbotinfo.bsky.social. When are you going to do something?

I’m heartbroken to learn that two New Yorkers have drowned as a result of today’s torrential rain and flooding. Their families and loved ones are in my thoughts tonight.

This kind of sudden and intense rain has become the new normal—and our infrastructure isn’t prepared for it.

Just to reiterate: you are more likely to die in a car crash in the Portland metro area than you are to have died in any TriMet-related way--on a bus or train, at a stop, or even being hit by a bus or train--in any given year dating back to when the MAX was built.

On TriMet, calls for police service fell by almost half from 2021 to 2024. Still, when the agency surveyed thousands of riders and non-riders across the Portland metro area last year, only about half the respondents said they’d feel safe riding TriMet.

This is a blatant violation of 1st Amendment rights.

Gooding v. Wilson 1972 and Lewis v. City of New Orleans 1974 established that criticizing law enforcement is protected free speech. This woman posed no threat to the agent, aside from a bruised ego.

If he can’t handle that he can’t do the job.
