I hope some brave, smart, kind human steps up to primary @ossoff.bsky.social because I am eager to knock on doors for them.
Senator @ossoff.bsky.social @ossoff.senate.gov I’ve knocked on doors for you not once but TWICE. I’ve served you beer at Manuel’s Tavern half a dozen times.

I cannot afford healthcare if the ACA subsidies are not extended.

I’ve called your office & left a message. We need y’all to step up for us!

In terms of a bigger picture, why would anyone vote for a Democrat again when they only exist to cave and can’t even back their biggest legislative accomplishment of the last 25 years?

“You have reached the maximum length for a comment” you bet I have.

Y’all, make some calls on a Sunday night! Embarrass yourself alongside me, let’s go.
So, listen, call Schumer’s office no matter where you live, no matter if you’re registered to vote. Leave a voicemail that says if Senate Dems cave without an ACA premiums fix, you will never vote for or donate to another Senate Democrat as long as he is Leader
Call them:

Schumer (NY)
202 224-6542

Booker (NJ)
202 224-3224

King (ME)
202 224-5344

Hassan (NH)
202 224-3324

Durbin (IL)
202 224-2152

Ossoff (GA)
202 224-3521

Shaheen (NH)
202 224-2841

Gillibrand (NY)
202 224-4451

Masto (NV)
202 224-3542

Warner (VA)

I would not say the voicemails I just left for Wyden and Merkley were particularly charming or articulate but I do think my panic was clear, as a freelancer who only has access to healthcare at all because the ACA exists
If you have a Dem senator and you're seeing this right now, CALL THEM RIGHT NOW and tell them NO. If you don't know anyone who would be affected by this, call them for my friend Lisa. She cannot afford insurance without ACA subsidies and without health insurance I'm terrified she will die.
! A key group of Senate Democrats is leaning toward voting for a deal to end the shutdown, provided final details can be worked out like worker protections (Gift link)

(Deal does NOT include an ACA extension.)

The depth of the shame of a country this wealthy and abundant allowing its people to go hungry is impossible to measure. The fact that a handful of people could fix this by paying their fair share of taxes while still remaining obscenely wealthy makes it even worse.

The thing to notice about this phenomenon is that actually these people just like scolding the people who are principled about civil rights because there is literally no reason to be this attached to a bad *primary* candidate unless it's not really about him
Can I just add that it is deeply sad that people are this attached to a *primary candidate* in the *off-year* before the midterm? Jesus, this is what primaries are for!
apparently it’s time for another reminder that straight white men also have identity politics, *even the ones on the left*, and we are seeing that very much in action with regards to the Pod Save America bros defending fellow bro Graham Platner

For the uninitiated: The pope being this direct and explicit to U.S. bishops about how to respond to a domestic policy happening in real time is…unusual.
Pope Leo told U.S. bishops visiting him at the Vatican on Wednesday that they should firmly address how immigrants are being treated by President Donald Trump's hardline policies, attendees said, in the latest push by the pontiff on the issue. For @reuters.com:

Obviously, this is loser shit, but I think AI has really cemented itself as the visual language of fascism. It's anti-human, flattened, uninteresting, and cheap. It's like looking at a Potemkin Village and thinking that's the same as architecture.

I also got through so please call!
I ALSO GOT THROUGH TO A HUMAN AT SCHUMER'S 202 NUMBER - 202-224-6542

Make those calls, friends! Tell them to vote NO on any bill that cuts trans health care - tell them that trans healthcare saves lives and defending this is worth a shutdown.
I just called Chuck Schumer’s office and, for the first time EVER, a person answered, who then politely entered my complaints into their call log.

This tells me two things:

1) They’re not getting enough calls over there, and 2) If you want to yell at Schumer, today’s the day.
