Here's an interesting paper suggesting the bank runs of 2023 have been misunderstood - uninsured deposits and losses on the banks' assets were not the main story. The real problem was with the failed banks *customers* - crypto firms and VC funds. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....

I have gotten confirmation from sources inside the Coast Guard that this is in fact true and happened in Key West.

ICE went into military housing and took the spouse of a USCG member who is currently out to sea.
🚨🚨🚨BREAKING NEWS: Was just passed this from a fellow service academy grad. A Coast Guard Academy graduate posted this. They are reporting that ICE entered base housing and took a USCG spouse. I can’t confirm this but I’m calling for answers from the Coast Guard and Congress. This is unacceptable.

Almost every line of this story would have been simply unbelievable a few months ago:

—Pioneering cancer researcher;
—*Arrested* at airport in Boston;
—Now indefinite ICE detention in Louisiana;
—"Crime": not declaring some frog-embryo samples for research.

Read it.

Without scientist Kseniia Petrova’s expertise, no one can fully unlock the data’s potential, putting crucial advancements in early cancer detection at risk.

Has anyone noticed that the Republican discourse about North Carolina’s storm recovery vanished after the election? Nothing. Not a peep from them.

Probably because they don’t want you to know THEY LITERALLY DENIED FUNDING FOR NORTH CAROLINA THIS WEEK!

Crazy how that works!

New from me: an essay on the House UnAmerican Activities Committee, and its remarkable 30 year history of witch hunts & blacklists.

It chronicles the progression of how industries & academia went from capitulation to defiance,& what we can take from that today
