- A lot of chatters in my stream today were VERY panicked about this bill. It IS scary. If this is a panic attack-inducing proposition to you, my advice is to call your members of Congress (or have a trusted friend / loved one call) and to follow @techdirt.com and maybe otherwise limit exposure

It IS important on this one to watch out for your mental, it’s really scary and people are going to be saying a lot of contrasting and conflicting things… stick to sources you trust, do what you need to make your voice heard, and don’t doomscroll on this

once again, thinking about this. I do not know how much more collective grief and fear and death you need to see from us before it moves you to action. call your reps. okay, you don't wanna call for xyz reasons; understand that your next moves will be less effective but still, MAKE THEM.

- Rhode Island (Sen Whitehouse)
- Vermont (Sen Welch)
- Minnesota (Sen Klobuchar)
- Connecticut (Sen Blumenthal)

As if them trying to push through KOSA wasn't bad enough, now they're trying to straight-up get rid of Section 230. Everyone, please call your Senators and Representatives about this and tell them to oppose this bill!
Heads up: 'Sunset To Reform Section 230 Act'(H.R. 6746) has been introduced in the house. its sole goal is to repeal section 230

Its only introduced, so we dont yet know how actually threatening it is, but keep this in mind and advocate for sec 230 to your reps

Some thoughts on S230 repeal:

- I think this is the most sincere and dedicated attempt to repeal S230 that we’ve seen this decade
- No idea if it passes. I think it has an elevated shot. The writing is on the wall, those in power have designs for the Internet we know and love
- Life after S230…

Got an email from my Senator. Seemed in support of "improving online safety for kids."

Whats important is that a few bills are being refered to the Senate (CST) Committee:

- S. 737 (SCREEN) Act
- S. 5364, App Store Accountability Act
- S. 1748, KOSA

Tell them to vote NO.

—NO age verification laws

The internet should be free for everyone, but these bills like KOSA and the SCREEN Act are saying the opposite. Maybe if this country had listened to us and oppose SESTA/FOSTA, or if parents just do their job to make proper decisions with their kids' phones, we wouldn't be in this dystopian reality.
Even though we work on KOSA everyday, we didn’t know what bills would be in last weeks’ markup until 48 hours before the hearing.

This is the strategy- ram bills through before the public has had time to know what’s going on.

But you can always count on us to sound the alarm 🚨

We need to stop KOSA! It will destroy being anonymous online, so anything you post will be connected to your real name, and it will most likely result in anything ‘woke’ being banned. And the US citizens privacy violated.

No reform, no replacement, just utter destruction of all online free speech.
