I don't think our brains are designed to have access to a million options at any given time. Like I think we are genuinely happier when we have to be more intentional with how we spend our attention

I think it's safe to say we're done with "vote blue no matter who." Between Democratic leaders *already* eschewing this rule with Zohran Mamdani and Democratic governors now lining up to praise Charlie Kirk, it has clearly run its course.

In case you're not familiar with @lilashapiro.bsky.social, who wrote today's big Neil Gaiman exposé, she also wrote the 2022 investigation into Joss Whedon that we all read (among other achievements):
The Undoing of Joss Whedon
The Buffy creator, once an icon of Hollywood feminism, is now an outcast accused of misogyny. How did he get here?

I have so many hills I’ll die on in regards to criminal justice but this and abolishing felony murder are top five, for certain.
After covering crime and courts for a long time one of my strongest opinions, beyond that I don't believe in carceral punishment or our entire approach to justice and restitution, is that you should never be allowed to try a minor as an adult. When kids commit heinous crimes it's a community failing

I think lost in a lot of the discussion about whether trans rights is a losing or winning issue for Democrats is that _it is morally wrong to be against trans rights_.

like i think kelly hayes said assuming maximalist outcomes for the trump administration is an act of surrender. but the intention is clear. at minimum, allies who are unwilling to put skin in the game to stop this at this point should stop lying to themselves and us.
At Turning Point AmFest, Trump promises on day one to go after trans people with executive orders, banning trans people from the military, banning gender affirming care, and removing trans people from schools.

Look, I do appreciate the judge granting the extension of our deadline. I’m just saying it would have been nicer if he had done it earlier rather than 40 minutes before close on the day of the fucking deadline.

Disney is not your friend. Disney has never been your friend. Disney will never be your friend. The Moon Girl thing was not a one-off, nor was Gravity Falls, nor was Owl House, nor was the disaster that was Strange World

Every year at & around Pride, Disney wants LGBTQ money but yearly they do this

1. I have released my first post-election anti-trans risk assessment map.

The national risk is high due to potential Republican national policies targeting trans people.

DC has slightly increased in risk. Wyoming and Georgia go up as well.

If the board makes Bluesky inhospitable to trans people by courting virulent transphobes like Jesse Singal, the quality of this place will nosedive.

I don't want to be here if trans people (my trans friends, especially) aren't safe and don't want to be here.

I will not pay for this.
BlueSky is trying to monetize so let's show them some numbers:

Reskeet this if you refuse to pay for BlueSky+ until trust & safety decides to prioritize marginalized users.

That's $96 / year of lost revenue for each reskeet...

fun fact friday!

jesse singal is not a journalist. he’s a rightwing hack who writes bigotry “politely” to trick unaware centrists into thinking he’s insightful.

anyone following him should be blocked. he is just as transphobic as Musk, Trump, or LoTT.

block & DNI. he feeds on attention.
