I really need to plan some wildlife photography expeditions with my Pentax Takumar 500mm F4.5 lens. It's such a monster (8+lbs plus mount) that taking it somewhere really requires a lot of planning, and it helps to work as a team lol.

We really don't see enough creativity in floor labeling. Randomly numbered floors, lettered floors, the possibilities are endless. The glaring fact revealed by omitting 13 or other unlucky floors is that as long as you know which floor to go to you really don't care how high it actually is.

SCOOP: Schumer was more involved than reported with the attempted cave on the government shutdown. The Gang of 8 Senate Dems had his approval & he was getting daily updates.
In Thursday's caucus meeting, the Gang claimed they had 10 votes to cave. The caucus went nuts, leading to the new proposal.

In addition to being an excellent guide for anyone in a role that might be called to talk to the ideologically captured legacy press, it's also an important object lesson for the rest of us in a crucial bit of media literacy. Definitely worth taking a few minutes to read this.

So...

1. More space trash (major issue)
2. Humanity losing its night sky. This also affects animals
3. Heat removal in space is a massive problem because of the vacuum.

Honestly, imo, we really need to be working on reparing what's left of our planet, first.

Call me old-fashioned, but I think a word of the year should actually be a single word.
✨ It’s the most wonderful time of the year — Word of the Year season! ✨

Collins Dictionary has just crowned its 2025 winner, and this one perfectly captures our AI-infused era: “vibe coding.”

Incredible as it may seem, today is the birthday of TWO men who each invented a musical instrument that was named after them by adding "phone" to the end of their name.
John Philip Sousa (1854-1932): the Sousaphone
Adolphe Sax (1814-1894): the Saxophone
