ICE/CPB thugs tackled a nonverbal autistic man outside a Family Dollar in Chicago’s Little Village claiming he was “noncompliant.”

Witnesses begged them to stop. “Why they beating up this special boy?” one worker cried. “He comes in every day for a treat. He has the mind of a child.” 🤬🤬🤬

I’ve activated the State Emergency Operations Center.

Local law enforcement in Champlin and Brooklyn Park have the full resources of the State of Minnesota behind them.

We are monitoring the situation closely and will share more information soon.

Whole lot of people saying “she must resign” who should be saying “I am introducing articles of impeachment.”
Kristi Noem must resign. She has deported a four year old with cancer, detained a U.S. marshal, and arrested two members of Congress. She’s lost the confidence of the American people. ICE must stop terrorizing our communities.

I am so much quicker to buy DRM free ebooks, because I know I won’t lose access to them and will be able to read them on whatever device I am using!
DRM-free books have worked great. People who want to support me with a purchase support me. People who do not want to support me with a purchase will not be dissuaded by DRM. DRM is basically security theater for electronic files.
@scalzi.com Just got a Kobo, finding it tough to source DRM-free books. Noticed you offer them—curious how that’s worked out for you economically as an author? I did buy "When the Moon hits your Eye" and am looking forward to reading it.

Y’all, did we… did we make it? Is it actually February? How many calendars do I need to check to be sure that January is actually over?

(Also, since we made it: Happy Black History Month!)

If you live in a place with anything you might have to evacuate, I *highly* recommend you keep your important papers (passports/birth certificates/etc) in a portable container that is water/fire safe. If you can evacuate you can just grab it; if you are not home, the papers will hopefully survive.
With alt text, continued in second image for long alt text. PLEASE alt text emergency information. This is very valuable; don’t leave disabled people behind.

Sitting down to compose a hopeful message for 2025 is a tough ask given the year we’ve just had. Even glib sentiments are hard to come by. The defeat of pro-democracy forces in the US presidential election still weighs like a heavy anchor on my attempts to move on. 1/11
