This has brought up a question I actually don't know - when did the specific form "the fae" become so popular in English?

OED has "Faerie" going back to Spenser, "fey" as "fairylike" in 1823, and there's obviously "Morgan le Fay" from French, but can't find much for "the fae" til quite recently!

if you get to make art today, add something fucking dumb that cracks you up

that is the specific humanity in your work

everything else, no matter how necessary (and it is!! it's vital!), everything else is redundant context, it's safety

you have plenty of tortilla

it is time for the meat of joy

I really need playwrights to take improv or at least study it. You learn right away that two of the laziest choices you can make are (1) to bicker and (2) to talk about things that happening offstage.

I promise your particular brand of bickering about things happening offstage is not interesting.

I've just received word that my beloved #printer (a Brother HL-2140) has apparently succumb to years and years of use.

This was a B&W only printer that served me well through much of grad school and into general use with kids.

Anyway, I'm super annoyed at Heather Humphreys this morning setting her prerequisite of being President as motivation to learn Irish, so here's a code 'creidimionat' to get my Irish language ebook of 150 resources for free. I've set aside 20 slots for that code.

If you have friends who are job hunting, the most meaningful way to help is by making introductions and opening doors for them. Don't try and give advice because unless you’ve searched for a job in the last couple of years, it’s hard to grasp how drastically AI has upended the market.
Disrespectfully, I need anyone who has not looked for a job within the past year to shut up because shit has changed. Your advice and experience doing this in the past means nothing. You have not job hunted like people are job hunting right now, don’t give people false hope with your outdated ideas

how different would academia be if we valued community impact more than perceived global impact. What if the distinguished professors were distinguished first by making their region / state / students' lives directly better rather than the acceptance quality of an Elsevier journal article.
