Danielle Smith does not, and that's democratically dangerous.

Remember when Redford wanted to build the Sky Palace and Albertans were like, no? That was awesome.
Today the UCP announced they're opening an office in Abu Dhabi...

Anyways, remember a few months back when Smith cooked up the idea for a data center in Northern Alberta, promised Kevin O'Leary permits and the main investor is from...

Abu Dhabi?

Prolly unrelated.

The UCP is willing to spend millions of dollars A DAY to fight against better classroom conditions. How many EAs could they hire a year for one week of spending on this - because I bet it’s more than the 1500 EAs they offered.

Which means this isn’t about budget -it’s about power and spite. #AbLeg

In related news: Another MASSIVE subsidy is incoming if Albertans don't stand up and tell our govt NO. Alberta's "Mature Asset Strategy" threatens to let oil & gas companies walk away from $60 BILLION worth of unpaid cleanup costs, putting taxpayers and our public services at risk. #ABLeg #CDNPoli
People claim oil and gas in Canada isn't subsidized, but that's not true. Governments give away billions each year to hugely profitable companies through direct funds, tax breaks, preferential financing and more (including a pipeline). An explainer. #ableg #cdnpoli thenarwhal.ca/oil-and-gas-...

All this to say that we CAN and we SHOULD be getting substantially more from these companies than we currently receive. Oil and gas companies should be held accountable to pay for cleanup, AND we should increase royalties so that we can redistribute the money to fund our public services. #ABLeg
Two things Albertans should know about oil & gas royalties. 1) Since 1970, AB has received $335B in royalties, meanwhile there are $320B (w/ inflation) in unfunded O&G liabilities. Essentially erasing what we received. 2) In 2024, taxpayers contributed $3B MORE than we received in royalties. #ABLeg

Copenhagen, the bicycle-friendliest place on the planet, publishes a biannual Bicycle Account, and buried in its pages is a rather astonishing fact.

Some good things are happening in rural Alberta and this is one of them. Last night’s coal town hall in Fort MacLeod drew many impassioned voices and this was one of them. Bringing the science to an evidence-adverse government. 👏🏼 👏🏼

That approval killed any hope that Northback might have for compensation.
On the w/e premier Smith said Northback wd not be able to operate an open pit mine.
This revives Northback's compensation claims. 1/2
