James Baldwin, forever.
"If we know, and do nothing, we are worse than the murderers hired in our name.

"If we know, then we must fight for your life as though it were our own—which it is—and render impassable with our bodies the corridor to the gas chamber."

-James Baldwin to Angela Davis in captivity, November 1970

This human being is suffering and slowly dying. The horrors happening now and the horrors to come require us to stand up and fight back in all ways we know how

Come what may, I will bet on us, every time, because there is no other bet worth placing. I am all in, fam. I will never stop looking for openings and aiming at them. I will never stop reaching for people and saying, “Take my hand. We can do this.” Because we are worth it.

Joanna Macy reading Rilke and speaking on really loving the complicated (and maybe even hopeless) world is the medicine for me today. The fact that she is transitioning out of this life literally as I type here has made it all the more potent.

What do you do on a day like today? I went into my garden. I listened to Joanna Macy read Rilke poems and talk about the big questions. I dropped some books and zines in my @littlefreelibrary.bsky.social . And then in made a visit to this place where lots of tourists go @frickenchris.bsky.social

Shooter is Wess Roley. Mother, Heather Caldwell-Cuchiara is from Fullerton Ca, currently lives in AZ- owns a pet grooming business. Trump supporter, also anti-vaccine. Father runs a tree bus in Idaho. Wess went to go work for him. Looks like he got radicalized there. This is the American Redoubt.

22 years ago I was young and newly out as femme. My (stone butch) partner gave me #stonebutchblues. It became important to me in ways I find hard to articulate. I recently re-read it. I saw it has rooted and bloomed in me through the years. Absolutely masterful. Wish #lesliefeinberg was still here.

So far, each book I’ve read by @malindalo.bsky.social has a really compelling “snowball” quality. I have definitely stayed up late finishing each of them because, as I told my partner, “I can’t stop reading now!”Telling a new-old fairytale is no small feat and she did it. Enjoyable and impressive.

Terrible bill for poor, disabled, elderly, and unhoused riders. Speak up, O‘ahu!

#Landback is not a metaphor, just like stealing lands isn’t metaphorical. Keep fighting for return and keep disrupting the thieving
Here is the vast scale of lands to be sold to private interests without consultation of tribes. These lands will be closed to tribes and the public for the foreseeable future if this happens. The scale is heartbreaking! #Landback

DHHL beneficiaries, PLEASE SPEAK UP! Ask and really wonder why they are proposing this new extra policing and surveillance technology be used on ‘Ōiwi communities first. Do NOT consent. Write or call DHHL officials ASAP

I don't know what to say about the supreme court ruling

except that when I see trans girls get to have a girlhood, I'm besides myself with joy

and that I meet so many trans people who were made homeless as children by bigoted parents

and that trans kids deserve medical care and social acceptance

We (continue to) keep us safe. Solidarity and love and fierce commitment for the long-haul. We keep going.
Told my wife about today's Supreme Court decision to punish my child for being who they are and she flashed a smile of defiance that could shatter glass. They haven't made us sad, they've made us angry, and we are ready to fight

Just finished this poignant story from @malindalo.bsky.social . I loved the weave in of “Last Night at the Telegraph Club”; the two “endings” of each story are such a gorgeous pair.

I’m here for queer fiction! And anything butch-femme gets double points from me! Recommendations welcome

Good mail amidst the good news of people everywhere standing up and fighting back. Thanks @frickenchris.bsky.social ! Pics forthcoming! And @malindalo.bsky.social , I will be cracking into this as soon as I finish my re-read of “Stone Butch Blues” (22 years after my first go-round)!!! So excited!

They said it so well. Binaries of all kinds are always suspect AF
Avoid the violence/nonviolence debate. It’s a trap.

The only thing that matters is what actions lead to more justice and less harm.

Inaction and complicity in the face of brutal oppression is the worst form of violence. Never forget it.

“Wretched of the Earth” was one of the first anticolonial works I ever read when I was 19. It was Fanon and Ceasire (“Discourse in Colonialims”) who shined the light on what Hawai‘i and the Pacific were also facing.
‘This European opulence is literally scandalous, for it has been founded on slavery, it has been nourished with the blood of slaves and it comes directly from the soil and the subsoil of that underdeveloped world.’
