They should be ashamed. When there are trials for everyone who aided and abetted this fascist takeover of America, every single one of these people needs to be on the defendant list, including whoever voted to end the shutdown with literally zero concessions from the fascist party in charge.
The seven Democrats who voted in favor of renewing ICE funding are: Rep. Tom Suozzi (New York), Rep. Henry Cuellar (Texas), Rep. Don Davis (North Carolina), Rep. Laura Gillen (New York), Rep. Jared Golden (Maine), Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (Texas), and Rep. Marie Glusenkamp Perez (Washington).

Pernicious wordplay by Vance.

Vance: "Nobody is talking about doing immigration enforcement without a warrant."

Truth 1:

DHS is doing immigration enforcement IN PEOPLE's HOMES without a JUDICIAL warrant.

Truth 2:

Our system - the Fourth Amendment - requires a judicial warrant.
JD Vance: "Nobody is talking about doing immigration enforcement without a warrant. We're talking about different types of warrants that exist in our system. Typically in the immigration system, those are handled by administrative law judges. So we're talking about getting warrants from them."

Worth noting that among those participating in ICE/DHS watch in Minneapolis today — who Emmer appears to frame as “chaos agents” here — are literally hundreds of clergy.

This country is run by petulant children who have never spent a single second being introspective.

These are people with fragile identities who can't fathom the thought of teaching our actual history.

I'm sick of it.

This isn’t leadership. Him and any democrat that voted to end the shutdown with a funding bill that ballooned ICE’s budget, and who votes to pass this funding bill have been and will continue to be complicit in the siege of Minneapolis, and any other atrocities they commit going forward.
NEWS: While Hakeem Jeffries has announced he's opposing the DHS/ICE funding bill tomorrow, his team is not whipping the vote. Several frontliners are expected to vote yes. There's a difference in leadership between personal vote decisions & unifying the caucus.

Jeffries Won’t Whip Vote Against ICE Funding - The American Prospect
While the House Democratic leader announced personal opposition to a funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security, he won’t pressure his colleagues to do the same.

Excellent reporting and another reason why I subscribe to @theverge.com
Thanks so much to everyone who has checked in about what it’s like in Minneapolis right now. This should answer most of your questions:
It’s worse than it looks in Minneapolis
But locals are organizing to keep each other safe from ICE agents.

A report from occupied Minneapolis: So, How’s the Occupation Going for You? “The physical machinations of the occupation are nearly impossible to avoid. ICE stops people randomly on the street. ICE rams cars, sometimes through intersections…” [liberalcurrents.com]
So, How’s the Occupation Going for You?
What’s it like to live in America with a domestic military occupation? Minnesota has the answer.

this crystallizes why, despite truly heroic solidarity and activism, i can’t quite get in the “we’re going to win” mindset right now. the harm is so active and there’s so much violence we don’t even know about. people are being turned into ghosts.

They're investigating the victim's wife, the victim's friends, the mayor and the governor too, but no, they're not even going to glance in the direction of the murderer.
BREAM: Is the FBI investigating the ICE agent who shot Renee Good?

BLANCHE: What happened has been reviewed by millions of Americans bc it was recorded. We investigate when it's appropriate. That is not the case here. We are not going to bow to pressure. So no, we are not investigating.

It’s been 63 years since MLK Jr. wrote this & it’s still true. We like to think we’ve made much progress, but it’s been surface progress, fragile progress, because only the symptoms, the low hanging fruit, has been changed, camouflaging the true rot, the systems built up over generations to oppress
I never understand why people who tout their moderate and centrist credentials aren't directly asked about this.

Some decent percentage of Americans will naturally view ICE’s behavior with revulsion. Another decent percentage can be persuaded eventually of ICE’s indecency. The remainder is irredeemable but hopefully can be curb-stomped electorally.
these are some pretty catastrophic approval numbers for ICE mom-murderers

they will not improve

The double pardon really gives away the game. Adriana Camberos started her second round of fraud just weeks after her first pardon. She was charged, convicted, imprisoned…and pardoned again. Trump supporters are permitted unlimited crimes, while the rest of us can get beaten by the secret police.
President Trump quietly issued clemency grants this week, including to a California woman he had pardoned once before and a man whose daughter had donated millions to a Trump super PAC.
