Since many of us sought social media refuge here, I’ll share a related escape. If you’re interested in living digitally outside of Alphabet/Apple/Microsoft, try the Arc browser. It’s a very different experience. I’ve also been using Kagi search, which is a decent 80/20 solution.
I was thrilled to learn that “Rothko Chapel” was nominated for a Pushcart Prize.

What a sad/incredibly important piece of journalism. If there is one thing we do as reporters--it's to document terrible moments in history that must be remembered, written down in detail & shared. Thank you Tyler Hicks and your team for this vital work. (Free link)

"This kind of droll, subtle humor is typical Padgett: Clever without being mean-spirited or inaccessible, it welcomes the reader, encouraging them to explore the hidden depths in the relationship between art and life, and points to the fundamental humor found in our day-to-day existence."

It’s the birthday of the poet Robert Pinsky, born in Long Branch, New Jersey (1940). Robert Pinsky said, “The longer I live, the more I see there’s something about reciting rhythmical words aloud — it’s almost biological — that comforts and enlivens human beings.”

Last weekend, @annabower.bsky.social started to receive Signal messages from the U.S. attorney who is leading the prosecution of Letitia James.

Throughout the exchange, Lindsay Halligan complained about Bower’s tweets and reporting on the indictment–but never once asked to be off the record.
