IT'S ALIVE 💀🦎🦌🧠

It was a pleasure and a privilege to edit this book with
@klschroeder.bsky.social, one that I fell in love with straight from the submissions pile. A quiet, aching story that radiates a love of all life while looking death, personal and species-wide, right in the eyes.

Happy book birthday to @klschroeder.bsky.social! No One to Hold the Distant Dead is a lovely novella that contemplates what it means to mourn an entire planet and how one finds hope when things seem hopeless.

When I read this novella in submissions, I knew we had to have it. The story is dark and timely, focusing on damaged systems: bodies and planets, human and animal. We are more alike than not, every person a world being ravaged by changing climates: environmental, emotional.

I'm back and the highschool kids were fabulous. They brainstormed ideas with pencil and paper and talked abt story ideas, had insightful questions, asked me abt writers block, asked me how to write the middle of books asked what exactly do publishers do? Lol 💀
Girl writing/reading is not dead yet.
Every day I see articles here about gen Z and Alpha using chatgpt to write and now today I'm off to talk to a grade 12 creative writing class. I think they might let some younger grades watch.
This will probably be my most discerning audience and one of my most important.
Never write off the kids🖤

Friends and friendlies on here: don't stop talking about your lives and joys. I know some folk are quiet or staying away what with *everything* but posts about cats and books and funny shaped puddles are essential to us getting through it. And shouldn't be drowned out by the fash.

this is so beautiful ❤️ congratulations El!
Today is the UK launch of Pantomime (El’s Version), meaning the first book of the Micah Grey trilogy is now out on both sides of the pond. I’d been daydreaming for years of being to somehow resurrect this series that means so much to me. (Part 1)
