It’s been five years since John Prine died of COVID-19. If you’re so inclined (and able — it’s long), here’s an essay I wrote about how his songs helped me accept a life with the debilitating, deeply marginalized chronic illness ME/CFS. 1/3

Whenever Zionists get pissed about a post like this I realize how much of their project depends on no one seeing Palestinians as actual people and it makes me so much more determined to have their stories be told.
There is a famine again in Gaza- no aid is getting in and electricity and water are severely limited. So if Gazans on here seem more persistent than usual please remember they are desperate and treat them how you’d hope someone would treat your family.

🏠 Without PIP, 700,000 more disabled households could be pushed into poverty.

Cutting this or other disability benefits would increase hardship for some of the poorest in society - something morally indefensible.

The media won't tell you that people are still suffering from & becoming disabled by Long Covid. Each infection increases risk, even a mild case & even if you think you did fine previously. Getting repeatedly infected is not sustainable & public health is worse than ever. Protect yourself & others.

Started the day crying, seeing everyone sharing all their #LongCovidAwarenessDay stories. How many more will become disabled? Ignoring the problem won’t make it go away. We need real investments in research on sophisticated therapeutics. (Note the irony in the chart’s title)

This. If masking everywhere is too much, start with hospitals, doctor’s offices, and elder care facilities. It’s a small thing to help make these places safer for immunocompromised people like me.
Friendly reminder that it's never too late to start masking up again. And if you only mask some of the time, it's never too late to mask more often.

If either statements apply to you, there's no better time to mask up again than today.

Cutting disability benefits doesn't 'incentivise work'. But it does penalise and humiliate the disabled, and that's the real point.

The pwME in vid calling for return to “old fashioned convalescence” reminded me of a neighbor who got mono in 1950s. Her doc advised family to support her rest. Took 6 months, but she recovered from bedbound never to relapse.

It’s not total nonsense that there is lost wisdom, but RFKs BS is not it.
One of the contributors to this wonderful video, pwME Horace Reid, just passed. It’s only 6 minutes and affecting. Well worth the watch. His portion begins at 4:54. #MECFS #LongCovid

Watched a YT vid abt English artist William Hogarth. He supported one of the first orphanages, in part bc he’d spent 5 yrs growing up in a debtor’s prison w his family, after his father’s attempt to start a Latin-speaking coffee house failed. Can we stop listening to the ghouls that want that world?
