Habt ihr damals davon gehört? Am 23. Dez 23 wurde Mahdi Ben Nasr von einem deutschen christlichen evangikalen Rassisten erschossen, zerstückelt und versenkt.
Alles an diesem Fall ist widerlich. Die Polizei, der Richter, die Familie des Täters. Quasi keine Berichterstattung, weil Opfer nicht deutsch.

Als Polizisten sein Wohnhaus durchsuchen, finden sie einen Wurfstern, Schwerter, Schwarzpulver. Einen SS-Dolch. Handgranaten auf dem Schreibtisch, Handgranaten im Flur, eine Mörsergranate im Keller. Über der Hundehütte steht in altdeutscher Schrift "Wolfsschanze", am Carport "Deutsches Schutzgebiet". 38 Schusswaffen, für die Patrick E. als Jäger eine Erlaubnis besitzt. Nur die Tatwaffe, eine Polizeipistole aus der NS-Zeit, finden sie nicht. Die hatte Patrick E. illegal besessen.
Ein Mann aus der Weihnachtsrunde wird nach E.s politischen Ansichten gefragt. Ob er sich abfällig über Ausländer geäußert habe? "Nicht mehr wie ich auch. Ich mag die auch nicht. Die machen uns kaputt." Vom Vorgesetzten in seiner Firma erfahren die Ermittler von seiner problematischen Gesinnung: Vor paar Jahren hatte E. eine Abmahnung erhalten, er hatte Sticker des rechtsextremen Compact-Magazins an eine Bushaltestelle geklebt. Nach der Tat soll er bei einer Schulung gesagt haben, gute Deutsche kauften nicht bei Juden.

Am 16. April erreicht ihn eine WhatsApp-Nachricht einer Frau aus der Weihnachtsgruppe, sie schreibt im Familienchat: "Die haben wohl nix Besseres zu tun". Die Nachricht lässt sich so verstehen, als meine sie die Ermittler. Die Polizei hatte nach dem Fund der Leichenteile von der Weihnachtsgesellschaft gehört, die zur Tatzeit neben dem Tatort Urlaub gemacht hatte. Alle sollen als Zeugen befragt werden. Die Frau legt nach: "Diese Type mit brauner Hautfarbe scheint was Besonderes zu sein." Und schließlich: "Jetzt muss ich meine Messer und Äxte verstecken. Ganz zu schweigen von den Motorsägen ..." Dazu ein Smiley. Spätestens jetzt erfährt E., dass die Leichenteile von Mahdi Ben Nasr gefunden wurden.

Patrick E. wird zu sechs Jahren und zehn Monaten wegen Totschlag verurteilt. Es hätten bis zu zwölf Jahre sein können, noch mehr, hätte das Gericht Mord festgestellt. In der Urteilsbegründung spricht der Richter lange über die Verfehlungen von Mahdi Ben Nasr, bevor er sich dem Täter zuwendet. Dessen rassistische Äußerungen nennt er "geschmacklose Späßchen", die Devotionalien aus der NS-Zeit "einseitiges historisches Interesse". Dass der Jäger kurz vor Weihnachten mit einer illegalen Waffe loszog, bezeichnet er als eine "besonders unbedachte Aktion".

Der Richter sagt, strafmildernd sei anzufügen, dass die Familie es lustig gehabt hätte, laut gewesen sei. Er sagt, Mahdi Ben Nasr habe provoziert. Und der Jäger E., "der ist halt nicht so gelassen, wie man es auch sein könnte". Und auch: "Da ist ein Mann von äußerem Anschein her arabischer Herkunft und schreit was mit Allah. Da hat er sich vielleicht wirklich was ausgemalt." Rassismus als Tatmotiv erkenne er aber nicht

So there you have it, twin study estimates were greatly inflated, and molecular data sets the record straight. I walk through possible counter-arguments, but ultimately the uncomfortable truth is that genes contribute to traits much less than we always thought.
