A federal judge denounced the Trump admin’s crackdown on pro-Palestinian college activists as an “unconstitutional suppression of free speech." Wesleyan President @msroth.bsky.social says, "you shouldn't be able to punish protesters because you don't like the fact that they're protesting."
Detained for dissent: Judge slams Trump’s campus crackdown as ‘authoritarian’
A Reagan-appointed federal judge delivered a stunning rebuke of the Trump administration’s crackdown on pro-Palestinian campus activists — calling it an “unconstitutional suppression of free speech.” In September after students and scholars were detained and nearly deported without being charged with crimes, Judge William G. Young warned the U.S. must not become a country that punishes dissent. This week, he went even further, describing the administration’s actions as “authoritarian,” and an unconstitutional attempt to “pick off” people for their speech. Wesleyan University President Michael Roth, weighs in, “this is an aberration, and we have to call it out and name it as such, because otherwise it gets normalized.”

New footage taken by the ICE officer who shot and killed Renee Good gives new insight into the incident. Fmr. NYPD Lt. Darrin Porcher says “I don’t hear threatening behavior” from Good, saying “this officer has to answer to this.” #Velshi
‘I don’t hear threatening behavior:’ Fmr. NYPD Lt. analysis of new Renee Good shooting video
Newly released footage from the smartphone of Jonathan Ross, the ICE officer who fatally shot Renee Good in Minneapolis, sheds new light on the shooting. Breaking down the footage with Ali Velshi, Pace University School of Criminal Justice adjunct professor and former NYPD Lieutenant Dr. Darrin Porcher calls the incident “a travesty” and says that Ross’s behavior goes against policing best practices. Porcher says that despite claims that Good was threatening Ross, “that’s not what I see in the video” and adds that the Trump administration is “drawing conclusions far too soon.”

Lessons from the 1920s: Uniting diverse liberals to save American democracy
As the year ends, we look at how America’s “results-now” mentality is eroding democracy and what a 1920’s reform movement can teach us today. A century ago, during a previous Gilded Age, a band of visionary progressives achieved success challenging inequality, economic upheaval, and threats to democracy. Historian John Fabian Witt argues their genius was in “organizing tens of millions of working-class Americans” across racial lines to make democracy work.

Rachel Maddow had a great opening to her show last night. She showed in Bulguria massive protests lead to it's government to resign.
That's is what needs to happen here. Yes, we had 15 million people show up for the second No Kings. But, we need numbers like 100 million+.

The DOJ identified at least 10 co-conspirators who worked with Epstein and Maxwell. It’s obvious to anyone with two eyes that Epstein and Maxwell were engaged in organized crime, yet NO ONE ELSE involved in Epstein’s sex trafficking ring has faced criminal charges. Why?

Expect this too to be retroactively censored in violation of the law. At least they are ham handed in their lawbreaking

Trump's recently proposed 50-year mortgages are being pitched as a way to address the crisis of housing affordability. But this plan is nothing more than a consumer debt trap. Decades of Wall Street practices have turned homeownership into a luxury good. #Velshi
How decades of government failure and Wall Street investments made housing so unaffordable
After Democrats scored big wins in this month's elections running on affordability, Trump has started talking about the issue. But his new proposal of 50-year mortgages isn't only a terrible deal, but it does nothing to address the broken system that's made homeownership out of reach for many Americans.
