Easy to believe this guy ignored someone who passed out in the Oval Office. He did ignore a guest at a Mar-a-Lago event who fell off the stage and split his head open and complained about the blood staining his marble floor. The lack of empathy is on-brand.

When you’re feeling hopeless, as I sometimes do, it’s important to remember that mass submission is a necessary component of tyranny, and small acts of resistance are still acts of rebellion.
The lesson of history is that tyrants cannot be appeased.
Appeasement only feeds their insatiable hunger for power.
Tyrants prey on people who feel unsafe and vulnerable.
But without mass submission, a tyrant is powerless.
Remember this.

The drowning person is the most dangerous to rescuers right before they go under.
MAGA isn’t a political party.
It’s a last stand for people terrified of losing white dominance in a multiracial democracy.

It’s not that hard to understand the idea that fascism is repugnant and should not be tolerated by civil society.

Empathy is one of the most important human characteristics. Lack of, or complete, gleeful disregard of empathy is a symptom of a fundamentally damaged individual.

If you haven’t already, consider quitting Facebook. I did in the spring. I’d been on the site for 17 years. There was a definite, discernible boost to my emotional wellbeing. You might miss some people and their updates, but the benefits absolutely outweigh the costs.

I’m just sick. One of my students-a sweet, kind freshman came to my office yesterday. Through the sobs she told me how her brother, a 22 year old dreamer, brought to this country from Guatemala when he was a child, was abducted by three men on his way to work. They don’t know where he is.
