Can anyone share boots on the ground experience of protesting at city hall? Asking for a friend who doesn’t like this but can’t get arrested.

I’m very sad that I didn’t have a gas station meal in the south when I did my drive from NYC. @rototudor.bsky.social told me they are fabulous.
I was horrified when Samson said we’d be eating dinner “at the Shell station,” bc in America, all you can eat at gas stations are styrofoam cups, chaw, beef jerky & cigarettes, while in Africa, you can eat like so 👇. Fill her up!!

Indeed. And can we stop taking photos of strangers without their permission while we’re at it?

New York is a closed primary state, meaning you can't vote in a primary unless you are a registered member of that political party.
There are many of us who are registered Democrats for this reason alone, or we'd have ZERO say in who ends up on the ballot each November.
I vote on the WFP line.

Also worth noting: I'm a dues paying member of the @nywfp.bsky.social - AND I'm also a registered Democrat. You can do both! That means I still vote in Democratic primaries - which is CRITICAL in NYC, because that's where many elections get decided.

DSA and Working Families Party have meetings FYI
To repeat: I have studied a lot of cases of autocratization over the past 15 years. Wrote about them, taught about them, consulting about them.
I do not recall an opposition so apathetic, ignorant, and inept as the @democrats.org. They cling to their power, rather than fight for democracy. Shame.

This series was wild to watch. Good on her for making these calls.
www.friendlyatheist.com/p/a-tiktoker... This whole series reveals a moral bankruptcy at the heart of American Christianity. When churches that preach about the sanctity of life refuse to give or buy a can of baby formula for someone in need, they’re revealing the giant chasm between creed &compassion
A TikToker is exposing churches that refuse to help a hungry baby

Primary every Senate Dem who did this
Major concession from Democrats here is enhanced ACA funds aren’t extended. Preserving them was Dems’ central demand in this fight. They secured a promise of a vote (which Thune has been offering for weeks), but that could still fail. Even if it passes, Johnson has made no promise of a House vote.
Tentative Senate deal to end shutdown, multiple sources tell me & @frankthorp.bsky.social:
—CR through Jan 30
—Approps minibus
—Fully funds SNAP
—Reverses Trump’s shutdown RIFs
—Promise of Senate vote on ACA subsidies by Dec second week (details/outcome uncertain)
—Led by King/Shaheen/Hassan

I mean, posting this like it matters after 10 of his own caucus broke rank to knife 24 million people for no upside at all isn’t just humiliating, it demonstrates he isn’t able to do his job. He’s got to go. Primary him out if he won’t retire. Hell, I’d support an emergency recall. He’s a disaster.
America is in the midst of a Republican-made health care crisis—a crisis so severe, so urgent, and so devastating for American families that I cannot support a continuing resolution that fails to address it.
I am voting NO.

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

I'm hearing the same thing. Dems are nearing a surrender. I'm shocked. Largest protest in history + best election night in years + polling showing we're kicking their ass in public opinion. And now Dems may cave.
It ain't over til it's over, so please do call if you've got a Dem senator.
