i realized yesterday it would be nice to have noise filtering on my mic and I was surprised to find an open source package for it in like 5 minutes that just worked. it's been a big culture shock switching to linux and not having to buy random proprietary software for everything

I've been fighting with windows trying to properly turn this off / disable it the last few days and it just KEEPS COMING BACK. Shit's absurd.
If you're using Windows 11, Microsoft is now surveilling you in a new way. This may already be turned on on your computer, and you would not be notified; it activates whenever they detect you are in a "game", which in my experience Microsoft often false-positives on

Mind, I'm not saying technology is bad, but when the wealthy, who overwhelmingly control it, don't want to share any of its benefits with anyone else, it all just turns into more efficient wealth transference to them, and tighter controls for us. Guess the luddites knew what they were on about.
