Idk Black Friday isn’t what it used to be. Remember Door Busters? Remember getting up at 4 am to stand outside Circuit City ready to trample anyone who tried to get between you and that third season of Buffy DVD box set for $14.99???

Today, the international LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA Collaboration celebrates the successful completion of its 4th observing run (O4), marking another major step forward in the exploration of the gravitational wave universe. The run relied on coordinated observations and analyses by teams across the world. 🧪🔭

OTD, the premiere of #StarTrekVoyager's 100th episode, "Timeless," which saw the Voyager encased in ice and Kim & Chakotay changing history to save their crew. LeVar Burton directed and also guest starred as Captain Geordi La Forge of the USS Challenger.

never imagined we'd be in situation where we have to justify comet's existence😵‍💫
But he literally doesn't know the first thing about comets, which is that they have dust tails pushed by solar radiation pressure. Ask him why Hyakutake had such a long tail. He won't know.
Everything about 3I/ATLAS is consistent with a comet, likely one < 2 km in diameter, as common as Borisov.

But to clarify: the blast radius will not be wide enough to materially hurt *any of the billionaire assholes who got us into the mess*. They will come out of it fine, rich & happy, on to their next fuckup.
WSJ: “.. If the AI market blows up, the blast radius would be wide, hitting not only Wall Street firms, but also pensions, mutual and exchange-traded funds and individual investors, because of how debt is often sliced and resold across the financial landscape.”

Was thrilled to help consult for this fantastic John Oliver segment on the tragic plight of U.S. public media and why, if we hope to be a democracy, we still need public media for so many things that commercial media will never provide. Deserves a wide viewership. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yknM...
