Integration of renewables, storage and energy markets. Baltic-Nordic cooperation.

Her brukes den for første gang.

Remember, whenever you hear that “speed wasn’t a factor” in a deadly crash, what they mean is that the car involved wasn’t technically speeding. At least “not by much.” It presumes that the speed limit wasn’t too high to begin with.

When it comes to death from collisions, SPEED IS ALWAYS a factor.

Seriously, if someone values high pay per hour with only a few years training, job security for 30+ years, the potential to travel at will, and the feeling you’re contributing to a better world, training as an electrician isn’t a bad strategy.

Why are interconnectors important?

Europe's biggest power plant, Bełchatów, suddenly disconnected in 2021.

Because Poland's grid is synchronised with the rest of Europe, an immediate, commensurate rise of 3500MW(!) in electricity from its interconnectors.

Pretty cool, huh!?

Coal is still king but won't be for much longer. Latest @iea.org projections confirm a significant milestone:

Renewables are on track to surpass coal as world's biggest source of electricity by 2026. Rapid growth in solar + wind and levelling off of coal power are driving forces behind this shift.

Pretty much the first mention in history of coal pollution comes from the Nottinghamshire coalfields, which fed the Cottam Power Station demolished this week.

Eleanor of Provence, wife of Henry III, fled Nottingham in 1257 because the locals were burning so much coal.

The journalist concludes it's not possible to find out how much electric cars in Norway have cut emissions by. Having been told by the Environment Ministry to ask SSB, there's no indication the journalist did so. SSB wrote an article estimating that in December last year.

@norad.no

NEW from me: China's CO2 emissions fell ~1.6% in the first quarter and have now been flat or down for more than a year. This is the first time on record that emissions are falling due to clean energy growth, not slow power demand.
