Participating in a reading today for my MFA program and my teen was like, "So, you just decided to make people cry today?"

Friends, I'll have you know I'm actually reading a somewhat funny excerpt from an essay.

But damn, I was attacked in my own home.

I sent off my self-evaluation to my mentor.

I am now finished with the hell semester.

The amount of times I almost crashed out today while wearing my Crash Out Kitten t-shirt was more than one and less than 10.
November 14, 2025 at 2:50 AM
Cried twice already today.

Now, I'm having milkshakes with the tween (mine's pumpkin spice) in the Florida sunshine.

A day can improve.

Can you fail a self-evaluation?

Asking for a friend.

I want to very gently say something, and I hope nobody will be mad: If somebody on the internet says something that is NOT about politics and NOT about how terrible everything is, it’s a kindness not to reflexively make a comment (in jest or not) that brings it back to those things.

World's still shit though.

The mute button and the block buttons are quickly becoming my best friends because I cannot live with the amount of anger that currently resides in my body for much longer.

I almost rage responded to something on social media. I did not. Growth.

I've been sitting on the couch, reading a school book, for a couple of hours.

I've had three cats rotate their time on my lap and a fourth one consider it.

Can you tell the temperature dropped in Florida?

It’s okay because the Republicans promised to hold this exact same vote in a month
UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.
An important vote in this series: Tammy Baldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.

I swear to all that is good and holy if I get a fundraising text from the Democrats anytime soon I'll crash out.

The only reason I haven't burned to a crisp is that I am hanging out with my oldest kid who got braces off today and has not one but two retainer fittings (which required 9:00 and 4:00 appointments in a city 45 minutes away from home).
Well, I am remarkably angry for a Monday morning.

I just heard a mom in the waiting room of the orthodontist tell her little kid, "Don't do the same things over and over. Just try to do the right thing."

And if that isn't applicable for today...

How do you make this your central demand for 40 days and then just let it go
Major concession from Democrats here is enhanced ACA funds aren’t extended. Preserving them was Dems’ central demand in this fight. They secured a promise of a vote (which Thune has been offering for weeks), but that could still fail. Even if it passes, Johnson has made no promise of a House vote.
Tentative Senate deal to end shutdown, multiple sources tell me & @frankthorp.bsky.social:

—CR through Jan 30
—Approps minibus
—Fully funds SNAP
—Reverses Trump’s shutdown RIFs
—Promise of Senate vote on ACA subsidies by Dec second week (details/outcome uncertain)
—Led by King/Shaheen/Hassan
