so, in the course of a month, the New York Times reassigned four veteran critics, the Washington Post’s film critic took a buyout, Vanity Fair decided it doesn’t need a film critic at all, and the Associated Press got rid of book criticism altogether?

Cool.

I'd love if every media org that runs a story, interview, op-ed on Rudin ALSO meaningfully reaches out to the many, many hundreds of people Rudin abused & damaged to ask them what amends were made to them by him, how they feel about his return & what they think has or hasn't changed in the industry

This was one of my absolute favorite movies out of SXSW -- and Neon is one of the few studios that will give it the care and handling -- and theatrical distribution(!) that it deserves.

I can't wait for people to discover this film.

I haven’t seen a life affirming, exuberant film like THE RIVALS OF AMZIAH KING in a long time. Matthew McConaughey and newcomer Angelina LookingGlass lead this story about family, beekeeping, honor and legacy.

I welcomed 2025 in by booking our Toronto hotel for TIFF in September. Can’t wait to see what the 50th edition of the fest looks like.

My entire relationship to series television has now distilled itself to one sentence: If I can't remember what happened last season, you took too long.

Our first day in Quebec for Thanksgiving. The city was seemingly made in a lab to accommodate Christmas decor. We’re impressed with the architecture wherever we go.

I would honestly rather have eight power-crazed Democratic politicians announce for 2028 and start running unbearable noisy campaigns TODAY than read one more "What the Democrats did wrong/must stop doing/don't understand/need to do" op-ed from a paid manufacturer of opinion.

So glad I saw this in a theater
Jérémy Clapin's MEANWHILE ON EARTH is remarkable. Strange, beautiful, and very much like this project I had written 60 pages on and have to abandon now because this is not only first but better. I love/hate when that happens. Bravo, Clapin. What a stunner.

Weirdly devastated by the Paul Reubens death news. Actual genius who didn't get reappraised in time. I hope people rewatch all of it and see his show and movies are still from a future we haven't seen yet.

Public libraries are the only public institution I can think of that, by letting kids open their own accounts into which no one else can pry, accord children their own civic standing.

Nothing is more radically democratic than this.
